Robinson was born in 1978, and since joining Darlington in 1994, has enjoyed an eventful football career despite only being 25 years old. He signed pro with Newcastle in 1998 and managed to break in to their first-team, even scoring a goal in the UEFA cup. He then moved to Wimbledon for £1.5m, before his career rather went downhill a little. Paul went on to play for Burnley, Dundee Utd, Grimsby, Carlisle and Blackpool, before moving to Hartlepool in 2003.
Robinson was signed by Brass - whom he had previously played with at Burnley - after rejecting a twelve-month contract with Hartlepool. He signed a two-year deal with York, coming to Bootham Crescent in search of first-team football.
