Profile |
Chris Brass began his career in football as a trainee with Burnley. He signed professional forms there in July 1993, and in his seven-and-a-half years stay he managed over 100 performances for them. He also went out on two loan spells while he was there, Torquay in 1994 and Halifax in 2000.
Brass joined York on a free transfer in March 2001, and has been pretty much a first-team regular since then, playing over 100 games for the club. He became captain of the side after a while, after some determined performances in midfield and at the back.
After these years of dedication to the club, and the fact that he, like Parkin stayed when he could have left in the troublesome off-field times of late, won Chris the ‘Clubman of the Year’ award for last year. He was a player firmly in the hearts of City fans, and when Terry Dolan was sacked, there was one player on everyone’s minds, despite him only being 27 years old. Brass was finally appointed player/manager of York in July 2003.
