After being released by Rochdale in early 2004 - after a total of only 7 appearances at the club - the right-sided midfielder joined York, rejecting a move to former club Grimsby Town in the process.
Halifax-born Donovan began his career in October 1989, turning professional with Huddersfield Town. This was the beginning of a long footballing career, as he has since made over 400 appearances, for teams including West Brom, Barnsley and Grimsby Town.
However, due to personal problems and low fitness levels, Kevin had to wait until this season to make his first appearance for York.
