The old design was a bit '70's stylee, so to be honest it was time for an update.
Don't like this bloody "s" word on it though - altough I think some people are having heart attacks for nothing. Like someone said it's just a badge - shame it wasn't better tho'

Badges are important now more than ever due to their use in all kinds of media all over the world.
Badges aren't just something to clutter up a shirt - they are a marketing tool used to promote the club, sometimes they are even used instead of the name.
Hence the emphasis JB is putting on the badge as part of the re-launch.
It's just a shame that it looks so naff and is something we will have to live with for a long time through no choice of our own!

AcombDave maybe forgetting badges is the first sign of pre-senile demntia (or am I just being cheeky now )?
What bothers me is if this THING is going to be on all YC products it IS IMPORTANT because it's the brand mark.
Found this posting by a Tiger, I know we hate them but it actually sums it up fairly well and is not the usual cod head crap.
quote:
I liked your old badge. You could easily link the tower with York. This new one is a piece of lazy clip art which has nothing to do with York City.
The first thing our new chairman did when he came in last year was to get rid of our hated badge and replace it with the traditional tigers head. It was a popular move, I suspect Batchelor has messed up on this one
The important question, if seen from ANY distance, is WHERE exactly does it say or suggest YORK?

The issue is that JB has always said, from the off, that he is a man willing to listen to the fans and what they have to say.
This badge, and more importantly, this enormous change from YCFC to *screws face up as if forced to eat a caper* YCSC was done without any consultation and is presented as a fait accompli, with only a weak argument about marketability to support it.
I am not a soccer fan. I'm a football fan. I support a football club. The change is pointless and embarrassing. And what JB doesn't seem to have grasped, it's confusing -the large 'SC' on the badge does indeed bring to mind Stockport County and the like.
JB, for Christ's sake, go with the new badge, who gives a crap what it looks like really, but please, please, please reconsider this lunatic move. We are YCFC. Don't tell us we aren't without asking the fanbase first. Reading this thread should give you a pretty good idea of the response to the re-branding...

The logo is great except for the 'SC' . Get rid of that (it isn't necessary and will stop the 'soccer' v 'football' arguements) , and make the lions more prominant.
The SC bit makes it look like a school badge that should be worn on a uniform.

DeeUU - I'd say being cheeky, but I am thick skinned!
Yep it will adorn eveything but do you remember the swirly YC when we were in the proper 2nd div? That also adorned everything. It became dated and it dissapeared very quickly.
No idea what new badge will look like on the shirt yet cos we have nae seen a design. I think JB has got it wrong with the badge by revealling it b4 the whole package was ready. Maybe then it will all slot into place. I think personally we could have just had YorkCity on the bage (with or without a space) so FC (or SC) or RT (Racing Team) RLFC or whatever sport JB affiliates the name to next could be used with the badge. If he is using this as a brand leader the brand should be York City and the SC (or FC) dropped. But that is my opinion 1 of many who all will differ.
Must go got to collect my pension!!

First post of the day and the new badge has certainly caused a stir.
Personally I can't see what all the fuss is about.
Mr Grayson it appears you will soon be removing your nose to spite your face as well as missing out on an exciting future at the club.
Looks as though I might be the first to dip my toe or leg in the ruby arts pool .

I think we'll have to live with it boys and girls. Looks much better on the Evening Press web-site cos it's smaller. Not as blatant.

I've shown the badge to 3 people at work comments were :
"Mmmmmmmm"
"It's quite nice"
"It's OK what does the SC mean ?"
I think that probably sums it up nicely.
