Oh Dear, that is really, really bad.
I get the feeling that even the slightly more positive posts in this thread are like the people on changing rooms who return to their beloved house only to find that some overpaid dandy in a suit has completely f***ed up something they had just taken for granted.
S C, I mean, how are we going to explain that one away?. It's embarrassing.
If we have a great season, all this will be by-the-by, but right now I feel as if my old football club has been hi-jacked by a parasitical marketing guru who must have been too busy doing lines in a wine bar toilet to think about what the design should represent.
It's not football, it's not motor racing, it's not even soccer, it is however - ****e.

oh dear, I laughed then I cried, and now I don't know what to do. I fully Understands what JB is attempting, but it does look like something my girlfreinds school kids would do on a rainy afternoon when they're not allowed outside.
I don't think I'll be getting a tattoo of it......

I don't know why you're all surprised at the SC, it was reported in the Evening Press a couple of weeks ago that the new badge would have it on!
Having said that, I'm in two minds about the badge, but as has been said, we are moving forward and I'm looking forward to the new season.

This logo is bloody awful!
Firstly I have severe reservations over the SC.
Secondly, as a sheild it looks too angular, and doesn't reflect an historic city such as York. It needs something to indentify it with the city.

I shouldn't have read all the posts before looking at it.
The badge actually does not look too bad. Just a few changes and I think most people would like it, if not all.
Drop the SC straight away and change the colour of the lions to white or blue, small changes but will be very effective.
I am no designer or marketing bod just a fan with a view.

I had a bad feeling and I see that 49 of you got there before me.
Dearie dearie dearie me. I cringe and weep.
LondonVillageRed has it about right - it's _just about_ liveable with - if you do something about the 'SC'. My heart sinks. We sound like a made up football club.
Oh, sorry, I just used the 'F' word.
Surely there has to be someone with a bit more design nous than the geezer - our new director no less - who came up with this sorry effort.
SC? I will never get used to it. Already getting jokes from colleagues about being called 'soccer'. Oh how they laugh. 'Plastic club' I heard levelled at us earlier this week. I never thought I'd here the day. And now a Man City fan rang me this morning before I'd even got to my desk - apparently the logo's doing the rounds as a joke on some Man City board.
Please John, please, if there's any chance, any at all, listen to the fans on this board. We are the ones who turn up week in, week out, we are the ones who are the lifeblood of this club. We don't care WHAT you call us when marketing us abroad - but we DON'T want to be called 'SC'. Change that S to an F and I might just get my head round the rest.
I'm going to go and hang my head in shame and hope no more colleagues ring up for a laugh.

Oniongravy, you don't know which Manchester City website this was?
I'm likely to be bumping into one or two blues tonight, and I am not looking forward to it.

Haven't a clue, soz. Colleague in question is in meeting all day, but could catch him at lunchtime.
Have tried looking around but can't see anything. He did seem to know exactly what it looked like - but then he could have gone to our site to do that!
The point is - he thought the 'S' was VERY VERY funny and went on and on about it. We won't be hearing the end of this, I warn ya.

I'm sure I've seen a badge very much like this one before somewhere, but I can't think where.
Wherever it was, it was on something very tacky.

settle down everyone - itd just a badge for gods sake! Who cares if its a bit pointy at the bottom, tacky or whatever- it doesnt really matter. Having said that though I HATE the HUGE SC. Everyone will think we're Stockport County or something. Like the integrated chequered flag though cos motor racing is sexy......
