Darlington Supporters' Trust has launched a £250,000 crisis fund with the club in serious trouble. The fund-raisers also hope to be part of a local consortium planning a bid for the club, as part of the rescue effort.
Controversial chairman and owner George Reynolds has resigned but has left a financial mess, with the administrator in since before Christmas. After being promised Premiership football "in five years."
Five years later, we're now in 91st place. We still don't know the extent of the debts and Reynolds says he himself is a creditor.
The club's future is under real threat. The administrators admitted they could not guarantee the Quakers would see out the rest of the season...with the next six weeks crucial.
With a statement of affairs due to be released by the club's administrators any day, the supporters are aiming to raise the cash by the end of March.
It will be kept in an account to be used to keep the club running if its imminent closure is announced...and hopefully to being part of the consortium. The Trust has been offered a partnership and elected seat on a new board, if the consortium bid - by local businessmen - goes ahead. We hope we can play a part in the rescue.
If you're able to help in any way, please do. Donations can be taken online via our website, www.darlotrust.co.uk. There is also more information and details about this ongoing saga.
