Has to be 4-4-2, playing 5-3-2 with wingbacks means that you need top strikers as they have less support from the midfield, and/or the wingbacks to really get up the pitch. Both of these are not really the case at the moment with City!

So:

GK Ovendale - clear choice, although yet to see Porter in action

RB Edmo - can't leave the skipper out
CB Brass - firm and experienced at the back
CB - Hope - just edges out Chris Smith, very close to call though
LB - Merris - no competition!

RM - Fox - creates chances for the strikers from wherever he plays
CM - Ward - keeps play ticking along and has plenty of grit
CM - Dunning - covers every inch of the pitch and never gives up
LM - George - skilful player who has lots of unfilled potential

AM/ST - Bullock - links midfield to attack and has goalscoring threat

ST - Shaw - Just edges in at the mo ahead of Nogan, Browne and Parkin, although would like to see Yalcin given a chance when he returns

have to say i agree there Mr. Davy, you can see that we lack the wingers because the strikers look lost. We only looked threatening when Merris or Edmo took a stroll forwards. You could see that Hull looked threatening for this very reason.

With the players we have we have to start with 5-3-2, we don't have the wingers to play 4-4-2.

That said, I think bringing in a winger instead of either extending Shaw's loan or Browne's contract would be an excellent idea - they could have a free role behind the strikers. Bullock scores a few goals here and there but doesn't have the creativity this sort of role needs.

At the moment, with Hope back I'd start Parkin and Browne up front tomorrow, until Yalcin returns when he'd play alongside Parkin.
