Who do they get in the next round then ?
Surely it can't compete with the undoubted tie of the round Selby Town v Pickering Town. It would be nice to see a few extra on the gate with York having a free Saturday on the 1st September.
|
York have most Saturdays free these days!
I just might go to Selby to to see that - someone please remind me where the ground is - I have played there enough times but usually went on the team bus in my playing days

Away to Jarrow Roofing Boldon CA. The FA Vase is the biggy - home to arch rivals Thornaby Town.

Match report: Norton 0-1 Stokesley SC
In the first half both teams cancelled each other out with end to end action but neither side working either goal keeper.
The second period was very much the same until the 63 minute when a ball down the left was pulled back by Andrew Murphy into the path of Paul Campbell who slotted the ball past Stuart Dawson who had no chance with the shot.
Norton pressed hard for an equaliser but could not break stokesley although the best chance fell to Steven Roberts who when one on one with the keeper shot straight at him.

I think I might start supporting Leeds (wonder if Phil still has contacts there), see if I can f**k their season up too.

FA Vase 2nd Qualifying Round.
Norton & Stockton Ancients FC 0 Thornaby FC 4
Norton started the game slowly but had a chance on 10 minutes to take an undeserved lead when Nathan Mulligan broke down the right and crossed for Steven Roberts who could only head the ball over the bar.
On 11 minutes Thornaby gained a corner in which Norton old boy Dean Gordon delivered and the norton defence failed to clear and the ball fell to John Ryan who slotted the ball home from 6 yards out.
In the 32nd minute Thornaby made it 2-0 as Christopher Crelin hammered home an unstoppable shot from outside of the area giving the keeper no chance. Norton then had a chance on 35 minutes when Graeme Baverstock rounded a couple of defenders and hit a thunderous shot but it could only rattle the woodwork.
After the break Norton started with more purpose and gained a corner in the 47th minute which Nathan Mulligan delivered but Martin Thompson this time headed over. In the 60th minute Crelin got his 2nd of the game and Thornaby's 3rd after norton's keeper Steven Lawson came out of his area to head the ball clear but the clearance could only fall to a Thornaby player who then shot but Lawson made an excellent save only to parry the shot and crelin made no mistake with the loose ball.
In the 78th minute Roberts had an excellent strike pushed round the post by the Thornaby keeper Patrick Pisani. In the 80th minute Thornaby had another chance when Alan Cossavella shot but the ball was tipped round the post by Lawson.
In the 84th minute John Ryan had a chance after he robbed Gareth Murphy of the ball and was through on goal only to be foiled by Lawson. Daniel Mohan then sealed it for the visitors with a 4th in the 85th minute after he was left unmarked and scored with his head from a corner.
It just gets worse

Sorry to hear that when it's only £20 return to London.
Why don't you post on their forum instead?

Yes I'm sure it does, they would love to hear about NASA I'm sure. Just as much as the people of York would!

Things don't seem to be turning round, this is the seventh defeat on the bounce.

Norton & Stockton Ancients 8 Brandon United 0
Norton started the game brightly and didnt take long to open the scoring through Marcus Laing who neatly slotted home from inside of the area after some good work by Greame Baverstock. Only a minute after the goal Baverstock had a chance to make it 2-0 after he broke through the Brandon defence but his shot hit the post.
Baverstock scored his 2nd in the 17th minute when a long ball by keeper Briggs found Baverstock who cooly headed over the advancing Brandon keeper. A minute later and Steven Roberts made it 3-0 after some good work by Baverstock. In the 20th minute Roberts had a superb flying header ruled out for off side after a great cross from Baverstock.
In the 25th minute of the game Richard Gaston broke forward and rattled the cross bar with a screamer from 25 yards out but it wasn't till the 39th minute until Norton scored their 4th through Steven Howden after Craig Lake had slotted a great ball through.
In the second half it was again very much about Norton and in the 47th minute Roberts released Harrison Davies through but he dragged his shot wide of the goal. In the 56th minute Laing had a chance to score his 2nd of the game but hit the post with the keeper beaten.
It took till the 74th minute for Norton to score their 5th goal through Daniel Hanafin after a tremendous through ball by Marcus Laing taking thre Brandon players out of the game and allowing Hanafin to round the keeper and slot home from 6 yards. In the 75th minute Hanafin broke down the left and turned provider for substitute Nathan Mulligan who was unmarked at the back post and he slotted home to make it 6-0.
Again in the 75th minute Mulligan scored from 18 yards out to make it 7-0 and score his second of the game and in the 79th minute Jamie Dawson wrapped up the goal feast with clinical right footed finish after a cross from Roberts.
Maybe they've stopped the rot. Brandon are bottom though.

Norton & Stockton Ancients 4 Darlington RA 0
Norton started the game at a high tempo and scored after 13 minutes through an own goal by Charlie Walton after Harrison Davies had broke down the left and crossed only for a mix up in the area leadindg to a deflection and the ball ending up in the back of the net.
In the 20th minute a nice one-two between Steven Roberts and Marcus Laing led to Norton taking a 2-0 lead but in the 33rd minute Darlington's No:8 had a glorious cahnce to half the defecit but could only shoot past the post.
In the second half Norton scored 2 minutes after the re-start after Davies again worked well down the left and cut in to square the ball for Ray Woodhouse to slot home. In the 65th minute Norton had a chance to extend their lead through Davies but Paul Gilmore made a great point blank save.
Norton made it 4-0 in the 72nd minute and wrapped the game up through Laing after Roberts had held off two darlington defenders.
Good result for NASA against a side previously unbeaten away from home.
