Well, I've put my money where my mouth is with an eye on a 'trade' bet* for this year's Conference.
The Betfair market has very little money in it at the moment and therefore offers some crazily fluctuating prices.
It's a Champions only market for the Conf Nat. Oxford and Stevenage are around the 7/1 mark with York, Exeter, Torquay in the 10-15/1 region. On the outer edges of 'probability' in the 20/1 region are Cambridge, Kiddy, R&D and Burton.
I've put a few quid on both Cambridge and Kiddy at the 21/1 as they both look to be shaping up well with new investment.
Meanwhile the Conference North market is just waiting to be taken with no set prices. Stalybridge at 19/1 seem worthwhile.
Anyone else willing to make a pre-season stab? Who's shaping up?
*If you're not familiar with Betfair and trade bets then I'll summarise: Betfair works as an exchange where everything's matched by another user - I say I want to back York for the FA Cup at 100/1 and someone can choose to lay that bet. This means that prices fluctuate in realtime with regards to events and news, etc. I've put £5 on Cambridge at 21/1 not believing that they'll win (and give me £100) but thinking that they may have a good start to the season which would see the price plummet. If they were trading 10/1 at Christmas I could then 'lay' against them winning and pocket the £50 difference without waiting for the result. |
