Come on Webmasters - I know its possible using some forum types, there must be a function you can add for PHPBB forums that allows you to ignore posts by people who post crap time and time again.

What’s say you look into it at the least and decided if its feasible?

We actually do have to do some updating, so we will look at it and see what is available...

I want a feature that will allow me to knife people who assault us with text speak... Laughing

Wouldn't it be easier to simply put a post limit on the likes of Dan Kett but more importantly Tony TalkShite. Tony TalkShite should be limited to 3 posts a day maximum and that's 3 too many.

The problem being would be how to decide who to limit, with the amount of squabbling on here of late the site would end up getting 66 posts a day end of Laughing

Give the main offenders a 3 post limit, if their posting improves, then increase the limit gradually until they can be trusted. If the posting doesn't improve, ban them.

Wait a minute.... Embarassed

Why not let only people who have been banned be moderators and see what happens!?

Good fun, a real social experiment and a kinda Red and Blue version of Animal Farm!

Then again.............. Rolling Eyes Wink

Why do people constantly cite this piece of (IMHO) rather poor fiction as if it were some sacred text that apparently reveals something deep, dark and fundamentally meaningful? I see that people are now trying to attach the same sanctimonious rot to the Chronicles of Narnia...

People it is fiction Rolling Eyes

If you want good Orwell, read "A Homage to Catalonia" for god's sake...if you want more good, factual social commentary, may I commend either "Our Flag Stays Red", Thames, London (1948) by Phil Piratin or "How the Steel was Tempered" by Nikolai Ostrovsky. Wink

Ok, so I do have a bee in my bonnet about Animal Farm comments. I nominate Animal Farm citers for Pseud's Corner. Laughing

In fairness, I read Animal Farm after the amazing 1984 - and thought it was complete poop, by comparison. Its just that it has become a synonamous with social hierachical comment - and kind of fitted my uses. I am just a Pseud-Tart really - prostituting my own fictional taste to make a point!

Happy now? Razz Wink

Very, I feel that I have now had satisfaction, so will not need to slap your face or put you to the sword at 6am on Clifton Ings... Laughing

Ok Animal farm may not be the greatest piece of modern literature but for the most part you're not preaching to the converted, a move to books without pictures would be a giant leap for some posters.

Big Thumbs up to that statement ToTP...

Maybe we need to keep this breakaway thread quiet, or at least insist that Herge's Adventures of Tin Tin, Asterix the Gaul, The Fabulous Phreak Brothers or Viz is the minimum level literary requirement for participation.
I'd support that... Wink

I always knew you were a man of impeccable good taste Jeremy...

I favour a crusade to eradicate text speak, American 'spelling' Rolling Eyes , Americanisms, Beanospeak (writes to man who just posted "grrr" ) and poor literary analogies from the forums. Am I asking too much? Confused

...if i am, "Dear Santa, Can I please have a Transformer or a Zoid for Xmas..." Laughing
