 |
|
For those of you coming down to the stadium on Saturday may I suggest that you avoid the A40 into Oxord at all costs.
In all probability as you are coming from up t'north you will travel the M40 and A34 and come of at the Hinksey Hill interchange, this will bring you around to the ground if you follow the signs and you may well notice the word "KASSAM" painted out. The Green Road roundabout which is on the other side of town and is approached via the M40 and A40 is awash with roadworks where they are building what is being called a hamburger roundabout, oddly enough right outside McDonalds !
If any of your exiled fans are coming from the London area come off at the Stadhampton turn on the M40 and follow the road through that way instead.
Food:
The food inside the stadium is rubbish. It is better to eat at one of the burger vans outside. From the car park look at the ground and the wooden fence, your stand is on the left and your turnstiles and ticket office at the end nearest you. The best burger van can be seen at the other end of the wooden fence. It is used by both sets of fans before the match but there will be no trouble.
Enjoy the game.

There are 2500 parking spaces at the stadium and they are all free. The car park stewards will direct you to a parking area.
Like any other stadium it will be a pig to get away from but you can tune into Radio Oxford (95.2FM) and listen to the post match comment and callers views until 6pm by which time you should be well away.
If you do the M40/A34 route it is duel carriageway until about 1 mile from the ground and the remaining bit is a decent link road through a business park.
The nearest pub is right beside the ground and is called the Priory and ? (I really do mean a ? - I think they ran out of ideas for the 2nd part of the name) it is normally used by both sets of fans as far as I know. There is also the Ozone next to the ground for chips and ten pin bowling.
Programmes (£2.50) are sold inside the stadium. For further information please visit:

or ask me and I will try and help.

Does that apply to buses to the station or will they get priority?
What are the chances of making a train at about 5:30pm ?

You will need to check on our website for detailed match day buses but I am almost sure they do not run a special service from the railway station as the No5 Blackbird Leys bus from the station itself will drop you within a few hundred yards of the ground . The drivers are quite friendly less one woman driver who, if this was 200 years ago, would be burnt at the stake for witchcraft.
The service from the station is frequent, approximately every 6 minutes, but does take approx 25 minutes from A to B.
I would doubt you would make a 5.30pm departure unless you left early.
The only problem with taking the bus is that you will need to walk through Blackbird Leys, the local chavs become instant OUFC supporters although they have never been to a match and the only time they have ever been to the ground is to break in or scrawl graffiti on the walls. Just ignoring them is normally the best policy.
