Shocking today. I honestly have no idea why I 'tipped' half of the horses, as I bet on none of them. I had Pace Shot in the first, 100-1 e/w was a nice earner, winner in the last, and a place earlier on. If only aye! Still, my most successful day off the forum bet wise!

Someone work out how four candles would have fared with a tenner to win on each of his selections..... actually maybe we should all do it and build a league table built on returns.

A good bit of fun although the Church roof is no closer to having the funds required to complete the work this summer, still this is one Irishman who enjoyed the Festival and St Patrick’s Day without having a bet or a pint of the Black Stuff. Embarassed
Congratulations Mr. Candles, you kept your nerve and your form. Very Happy
Cheers for keeping the scores CTID, look forward to the same next year.

Grand National in 3 weeks time! Razz

Well at least I didn't finish with the wooden spoon. Some pride restored today.

Well done, FCITW.

Thanks CTID it was great fun.

We'll have to think ahead next time there's a major sporting event like this and pay £20 each or whatever to play, half the proceeds to the club and the rest split among the top three or whatever.

Anything big happening before the World Cup?

£10 on each selection makes £240 over the 4 days. Using the SP for the winners on ladbrokes, it would have seen a return of £342.50. Not bad at all, especially seen as it's likely you'd have got better prices than the SP for most of them.

I worked mine out as a return of £265, largely thanks to 'Non So' winning at 14's. Might have to try putting £10 on each in the future, because i'm certainly not up over the 4 days in reality! Embarassed

It just proves the old adage that tipping winners is far easier than backing winnners.

To a level £10 win stake I would have shown a profit of £102.50 but I am sure that Pogo has beaten this and Daley too with his 33/1 shot. There's probably others too.

Thanks CITD - great idea and good fun. It's also good idea to use this next year for collecting funds. Perhaps the losers can pay 2p a point of the winning score or a 10p fine for each race you fail to score. It'll put a bit more pressure on selections.

Obviously a lot may have backed decent priced horses e/w that came 2nd, or got a lot bigger prices for their winners than the SP, and may actually be up over the week, but if everyone put £10 on each of their selections over the 4 days, using the SP for winners on Ladbrokes, the profit/loss table would be as follows:

noddyinnapa + £197.50
Daley Mayall + £195
four candles in the wind + £102.50
yorkshireandproud + £85
minstermanabroad + £60
CityTillIDie + £25
TooOldToPogo + £15
Bobby - £49.50
down south - £67.50
Mr Ben - £70
YorkCityForever - £70
Father Patrick - £147.50
Angus - £150

Just shows how 1 BIG-priced winner can change things around. Only had 3 winners over the four days. Shocked

OK then I'll buy you a drink in the Social Club Monday night - and so that you can recognise me I'll wear a bright shirt. See you there!
