Do any of you go to York College. I'm starting in September and went for an open evening last night and it felt a bit daunting. Massive isn't it. I would feel a bit better if anyone from the forum went. I also wanted to know what how they introduce you to college life. Do you go for a special day before term starts or do they show all that on the first day.

Thanks for any help.

I started last september, what they did with our group is get us all in for an induction period of 2 days. In these two day we had to pair up with people and tell them 5 things about yourself, they then had to remember the 5 things, and when it came to their turn, they had to try and remember the 5 things. We just did stuff like that for the first two days, then a week later we started the proper course.

It does help, even at the end of the two days i felt like i knew a fair few of the people in my course enough to be comfortable around and not run out of things to say like i would have done if they were a complete stranger to me.

College itself is good, most courses tend to get a fair few breaks during the day and it's handy with tesco being so close aswell!! You should enjoy it at college, it isn't as daunting as it seems from the open evening when you actually start your course!!

The one problem is the amount of Chavs that are at college, it seems you can't go a day without seeing a burberry cap wedged on top of some little spotted freaks head.

If you live near a school with a sixth form, Tom, maybe you should consider going there; if you're doing A-levels, as it wouldn't be as daunting as college and teachers are more like school in the sense they help you and look out for you more than at college. It's not too late- one girl was at York college but moved to my school sixth form (Huntington) at the start of October. Bear that in mind if you're not too keen on going York College. The only limitation is option columns mean you can't choose any combination of subjects you want. Only the more popular subjects (English, history, geog, pyschology, media) are in more than one option column.

Just make sure you want to work otherwise you won't do as well as you can at college.

From what I can remember, you go for one morning a week for three weeks.
You get a chance to play with the others in the sand pit and with various toys like hoola-hoops. If it's raining, everyone goes inside to play in the Wendy House or draw pictures on scrap paper.
Break time consists of a small bottle of milk with a red straw for boys but if it's very cold and the milk starts to freeze, you may get chance to drink some of the girls' as well 'cos they don't like it like that.

Just one thing-

When you're older and you go to U*********, don't let any Southern c***s steal your food. Evil or Very Mad

They're all loaded from Mummy and Daddy yet they still rely on people to give them that "little bit of milk" every so often. It all adds up though. Just say no!

Especially be wary of ones from Plymouth...

The best way to get round this problem is to leave some chicken fajitas on your radiator for a few days before leaving them out on your kitchen table for a couple of days, eventually they get just too tempted and eat them. They are then ill for the following few days, yet keep quiet when you enquire "WHO ATE MY f***ing FAJITAS?"

Anyway, they never touch your food again. Twisted Evil Laughing
