Similar to the recent case with Sony putting what is in effect a virus onto peoples pc's to stop them copying CD's, a company called Starforce have been doing the same. Many top games use this software and not only can in destory hardware it can leave your pc open to attack. This link lists all infected CD's and shows you how you can search to see if you have and more importantly tells you how to get rid of it:
