York City face an extremely tough examination in their quest to get back to winning ways, against a side that has finished second in the league for two consecutive seasons.
Team News
For City, boss Billy McEwan may be looking to make changes following a disappointing 2-0 defeat last time out against Morecambe. The Reds barely threatened and have failed to find the back of the net for the entire month of November. The keeper's jersey is up for grabs following David Stockdale's recall as a second half subsitute at Morecambe. McEwan kept his cards close to his chest by naming neither in the reserve side on Wednesday. In defence, at last McEwan has options. Carlisle loanee Lee Andrews, former Halifax stopper James Dudgeon, and David McGurk are battling for two places. Add to the equation Mark Hotte, who may be in line for some sort of recall after figuring for the full 90 minutes in the reserve 4-2 triumph against Scarborough. In midfield, the options are more limited. Convery's form has been patchy, and panther is still injured, Convery playing the reserve game which could appear to show that he may be about to be rested for this game. Upfront, despite Clayton Donaldson looking a shadow of the player who was the best striker in this division for the first 3 months of the season, he is likely to get picked. Joe O'Neill is also somewhat out of form but could be recalled after a good substitute appearance last time out. Ryan Mallon however has been loaned out to Gainsborough, with the recent arrival of Leo Bertos limiting his chances of first team action.
For Hereford, this season has been a bit of a disappointment for their fans after two seasons which took the team on the verge of regaining a place in the Football League. They sit in eighth place in the table on exactly the same points as the Reds, with their form being inconsistant to say the least this season. They are likely to make changes following last week's cup defeat by Stockport which many fans felt was unacceptable. Last season's highest scorer Adam Stansfield may be recalled with ex Scunthorpe striker Guy Ipoua dropping to the bench. Hereford fans particularly rate the young former West Brom centre back Mkandawire and cited his presence as important for last season's successes, so the Minstermen will need to be on form to avoid not scoring for the fifth game in a row.
