Red & Blue NET FC lost their unbeaten start to the season in spectacular fashion after being dealt out a hammering from an experienced Morecambe side.

Missing Gainsborough ‘Man of the Match’ Bobby D, key midfielders city_reject and jhiggins Red & Blue fielded a team which included two debutants and three 15-year-olds.

Within the first few minutes the Forum Boy’s found themselves behind after being swamped in midfield and a high ball over the top found Morecambe’s pacey forward who sprinted away to slam the ball into the net.

That goal seemed to knock the wind out of the Forumers and several well taken goals flowed through the now wide open floodgates. The only notable chance for the away team fell to yorkshireandproud who went through 1-on-1 but wasn’t able to convert his chance. If the visitors had been wasteful in front of goal the complete opposite could be said about their hosts as their predatory number 9 pounced on chance after chance.

Half-time; f**k knows (around 6-0)

The Forumers made a few switches after half-time with debutant player Bear move into goal with dicko.35 putting his gloves down to play upfront and Kingmouse moving into midfield with Woody Wilson playing defence. The switches proved a bit more fruitful as Red & Blue didn’t concede for a whole 20 minutes and started to play football.

The upturn didn’t last long with the hosts adding a few more goals even after missing a penalty.

Late on two chances fell to yorkshireandproud but as in the first half some good goalkeeping kept a clean sheet for the game.

Cue more Morecambe goals…

Game Summary

As the scoreline suggests Morecambe proved too much for a young and largely inexperienced Red & Blue team. They were well organised and with their height in defence and pace upfront they proved too strong for their under strength visitors. Lessons have been learned and hopefully we will bounce back more determined for our next game.

Special thanks for the Morecambe lads who sorted out some after match hospitality and didn’t rub it in too much. We might not be able to sort out a game on New Years Eve but I’m sure we will meet again.
