York Minstermen will run coaches to the first-team friendlies at Frickley and Sheffield, IF there's enough demand to make the trips viable.

There hasn't been much interest (so far) in travel to the Frickley game on Tuesday July 19, partly because it's fairly easy to reach by car or rail, but post on this thread or pm me if you're interested. depending on numbers travelling, I'd estimate it would cost £6-£8 for YMM members.

Sheffield FC, Friday July 29, may be a different matter. Sheffield FC play at Dronfield which is a fair way south of Sheffield and, as far as I can tell, has no train service after 6.30pm.

A coach to this fixture would probably cost around £7-£9 for YMM members. Again, post on this thread or pm me if you're interested.

Is there an age limit on these coaches? I'm 16 and would maybe come to one or both.

Our policy is that under-18s should be accompanied by an adult.

The reason is that usually we aim to stop at a pub, which may well not allow u-18s in, and YMM don't really want to be held responsible by parents for their little bundles of joy roaming the streets unaccompanied whilst we are in the alehouse getting tipsy.

I will take responsibility for Dobbo if people object to him travelling.

Put me down for both please Francis, they should be cracking trips, been to both before and would recommend them as places to drink booze in the late summer sunshine.

Hated every second in that barber's chair but had to be done if I wanted that £5.63 an hour job this summer.

Sorry for littering this post Frank, especially as I am NOT intending to go to any pre season away games.

That's about ten people for each trip so far, which is pretty encouraging.

I'll provisionally book the coaches, but I'm going to set a deadline for bookings (payment too, if possible) of Thursday July 14th (York Minstermen Quiz in the Social Club)for the Frickley game, and Saturday July 23rd (Monkey Hangers at home) for the Sheffield game.

If there aren't enough people to make the trip viable, we'll call it off at that point.

We've set an initial price of £10, but once we get beyond break-even point this will fall. The more people that travel, the cheaper it will be.

Nice one Frank, I can't speak for the rest of the travellers but I wouldn't mind paying say £15 to guarantee the trip goes ahead.

I fixed it at £10 because that would be more or less break-even if we only got enough people to fill the 21-seater, or if we run the 35-seater with 25 people or thereabouts.

But, if people are happy to pay more, I'll be glad to accept it!

This was the first I'd heard of it, but it looks right. I'm not sure what time we'll set off, yet, but will post it on here as soon as we've made a decision.

Nevertheless, it looks pretty much like both trips have enough interest to run, so I'm now taking definite bookings.

Please pm me to book your place, even if you've already expressed interest on this thread - this is so I can be certain that you want to come, and didn't just say you fancied it when p!ssed one night Wink

The coach for Frickley on Tuesday 19th July will leave Memorial Gardens, Leeman Road at 5:30 pm.

The coach for Sheffield on Saturday 30th July will leave Memorial Gardens, Leeman Road at 11:00 am.

Both trips are priced at £10, but this will fall once we pass the break-even point for each coach. The more that travel the cheaper it will be, so sign your mates up as well.

pm me to book your place.

Some of the early interest in these trips hasn't translated into firm bookings; we need about ten more definites for each trip to ensure they run.

Pm me, or book in the Social Club during this Saturday's darts tournament finals.

Things are starting to look a bit tight for the Frickley game - we actually have fewr bookings than we did ten days ago, as people's holiday plans begin to bite, etc.

We've advertised it on TOOAB, and hopefully the Press will give us a mention at some stage, and the club office has agreed to mention us to anyone enquiring about travel, as the Travel Club is not running.

However, the big problem is of course that we have no home games before this trip, and we need just six more people to make it viable.

Assuming no one else has to drop out Wink

Please pm me if you want to come along. Ta.

We're also taking bookings for Sheffield and Southport - again, pm me to book your place.

...if we get ten more, we can start reducing the price as well, leaving you more to spend on ale when we get there.

I'll be taking bookings in the Social Club tonight, before and after the quiz.

The Frickley coach has had to be CANCELLED.

Unfortunately, several people have had to cancel their booking during today, leaving a maximum of eleven who wanted to travel.

We can't keep the coach company hanging on forever - leaving it any longer would have involved us in paying a cancellation fee.

Sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment this will cause.
Anyone who paid upfront, please contact me to arrange getting your money back.
