York City Supporters' Trust writes...

City’s supporters are being encouraged to stand for election to the Trust Board. A position which could, in turn, provide the opportunity to be a director of York City Football Club itself. The countdown to the Trust’s elections has started with four Trust Board positions up for grabs ahead of the Trust’s December AGM. The four existing Board Members who are required to stand down under the Trust’s Rules will be Steve Beck, Mike Brown, Terry Herbert and Richard Snowball. Each of the four can, if they choose, stand for re-election. The four names were identified at the Trust’s Board Meeting on Saturday 18th September.

Trust Secretary Stan Collins commented:
York City is one of only a small handful of clubs owned and controlled by its supporters. The Trust and the Club relies on the support and involvement of supporters and the Trust Board elections are an important aspect of that involvement. To anyone out there who is interested in contributing to the business of running City, please consider standing for election.”

Amongst the four existing Trust Board members required to stand down are Trust Chairman Richard Snowball and Steve Beck, who is also a director of the Football Club. Both have indicated their intention to stand again for election.

You have to be a member of the Trust by 30th September to be eligible to stand for election and to vote. An Elections Working Group (independent of the Trust Board) is overseeing the running of the election in accordance with the Election Rules and a representative from Huddersfield Town Supporters' Trust will be acting as the Returning Officer. Nominations must be completed and returned to the Election Working Group by close of business on Friday 15th October 2004, which is also the closing date for members to propose any resolutions for the AGM.
The Trust’s 3rd AGM is planned for the evening of Thursday 2nd December 2004 at the Tempest Anderson Hall, York. The business of the meeting will include the announcement of the Trust Board election results, a review of the Trust’s work, a financial summary, the working relationship between the Trust and the Club and helping to deliver a brighter future for professional sport in the area. Following the AGM, there is planned to be a Fans’ Forum with representatives of the Club available to answer any questions.
In due course, details of all those individuals who have put themselves forward for election will be circulated to all Trust members along with further notice of the AGM. Voting will take place by postal ballot in October/November.
Any member wishing to propose a members’ resolution for consideration at the AGM should write to the Trust Secretary and include the form and content of the resolution. Such notice should be signed by the proposer and two other members and submitted by 15th October 2004.

The Trust is the body that owns York City Football Club and oversees the operation of the business. It is the Trust that appoints the Board of Directors who, in turn, are responsible for the running of the Club on a day-to-day basis. During this year, the Trust has carried out a review of the corporate governance structures and processes at York City – known as Project Spirit. The review is expected to be completed and published ahead of the Trust’s AGM, following completion of the deal to bring the ownership of Bootham Crescent under the control of the Trust/Club. Amongst the matters being addressed are the make-up of the Club Board and the appointment of Trust Board representatives as Club Directors.

Yesterday ( Wednesday) The Election Working Group posted all the remaining election notification letters to all Trust members. You should be receiving yours from today onwards .

Important
Please check the address label on the envelope and inform of any changes to the address.

There is also a 2 character code printed on the envelope label. If yours has “A4” on it you will not be able to vote in the forthcoming election as according to our records you have not yet renewed your membership when it expired in June. You need to renew your membership BEFORE 30TH SEPTEMBER to still be eligible to vote or stand as a candidate

If you do not receive yours by the weekend, or need to query your membership status please do not hesitate to contact me on .

May I take this opportunity to thank the EWG and all the volunteers who helped distribute, and those members who collected, over 500 letters at the last 2 home games. A significant amount was saved on postage
