According to the YEP, John Batchelor has yet to pay to York City the £45,000 that he is rumoured to have agreed to pay the club when the Supporters Trust took control of the club in April 2003. This money was linked to the "half price season ticket offer" which was run by Batchelor 18 months ago for this season's season tickets.
Batchelor was rumoured to have agreed to begin monthly payments to the club, commencing in January, but the club have yet to receive any payments from their former chief.
The lack of payment from Batchelor has obviously added to City's financial troubles - this may help to explain further the trimming of the wage bill over the past few months.
However, according to administrators Jackson Jolliffe Cork, Batchelor has paid the money he owed them in full.
City finance director Terry Doyle was hopeful that he could arrange to meet Batchelor, but according to the YEP, Batchelor refused to comment on the matter, preferring to discuss his Touring Car plans for the new season. |
