Yalcin: Don't Lev back in anger....

City boss Chris Brass today received some welcome news on hearing that Turkish Youth International Lev Yalcin is ready to commit his future to the club. The young striker, 19, confirmed his intentions after arriving back at the club after international duty. "I am hoping to sign a new contract so at the start of the season I can get on with the job I like doing."

Levent played 70 minutes of Turkey’s friendly against the Ukraine and is hoping his time on International Duty can act as a springboard for his City career. "It was a good game. I got a good run-out and really enjoyed it so hopefully it will give me a bit more profile. We played in a small ground with not too many spectators but it was a different style of football to what I normally play here and that was a great experience for me."

Yalcin is the only English based member of the squad and his inclusion is even more commendable given his meagre 3 starts to date for the senior side. He has also yet to score a senior goal, something which does not worry unduly at this stage. “I am going through a bit of a goal drought at the moment and it would be nice to get a goal or even a few before the end of the season.
"That would see me ready for next season when hopefully I can be a big part of the squad and do well for the first team. I am just concentrating on doing a job for York and hopefully progressing."

With Turkey looking to qualify for the Uefa U-19 Championships in July, they face a hectic schedule of games in the coming weeks, playing: Croatia (April 19) and Romania (April 21) before entertaining Russia. (April 23) This creates something of a dilemma for Chris Brass as he now has to decide whether the youngster can be spared as City face Cheltenham and Doncaster in that week, as they bid to safeguard their league status.
