This time last year those leading the Trust's Rescue Package announced another 'piece in the jigsaw' as the Board of Directors of the new York City Football Club Limited was boosted by two new recruits. Ian McAndrew and Jason McGill joined the other directors (Steve Beck, Sophie McGill and Mike Brown - who were each also elected members of the Trust Board) to make up the new Club Board. The appointments of McAndrew and McGill as Club directors were unanimously approved by the Trust’s own Board and came ahead of the 28th March completion of the deal to acquire the business & assets of the old club. A few weeks later, Terry Doyle was recruited as Finance Director for the new company.
As reported at the time, a Trust spokesman said "We welcome the appointment of Ian and Jason as directors of the new Club. The appointments strengthen further the skill base of the new Board, in particular in relation to the strategic business issues, commercial matters and working towards a ground solution for the Club. Their business acumen and experience are an invaluable addition to the team that will work to make a success of our new community club."

Whilst there remains a lot of hard work to be done going forward, hopefully most people will agree that the Club Board has achieved a great deal in its first year, particularly in the face of various challenging issues that were inherited. The Club Board that was assembled in March/April 2003 was an intrinsic part of the Trust's Rescue Package. Going forward, York City needs to develop more support from the local population and business community.
