Friends of Bootham Crescent commemorate true City hero
The Friends of Bootham Crescent and Harrogate Minstermen will be rattling their buckets again this weekend in memory of York City legend Keith Walwyn, who tragically died last week.
Bucket collections will be taken before City’s last home league game against Exeter on Saturday with all the money collected to be passed to Keith’s family to use as a tribute to the popular ex City striker.
Friends of Bootham Crescent spokesman, David Potter said "York City supporters trust has asked us to make this collection. The Trust has been approached by many City fans who wish to pay tribute to the memory of Keith in a practical way. Keith was to many of us the real millennium hero. It is hoped that the money raised can be used to aid others. Keith always gave 100% to York, now we are asking York to give something back in his name.
"We are delighted to help raise money for Keith’s family. The trust is contacting Keith’s widow Liz to see how she and her family would like the money to be used".
