Sponsored cycle ride to Doncaster |
The ‘Road to Doncaster’ For City Fans
Following a recent successful cycle ride across the Yorkshire Wolds to Hull in February (raising almost £1,000 for the Trust), a group of York City supporters are going to embark on a fundraising 45-mile cycle ride on the flatter route through the Vale of York to Doncaster in April.
The event will see a number of City supporters bike across to Doncaster's Bell Vue stadium for the fixture between the two teams on Saturday 24 April.
Leaving York at approximately 8:30am, and heading through Bishopthorpe, Riccall, Selby, Snaith, and Bentley, the group will be using the mostly off-road Transpennine Trail (Route 65 to Selby, then Route 62 to Doncaster).
Return travel has been organised for the cyclists, who will not be expected to make the reverse journey back to York in the saddle! Anyone wishing to join the event and do the ride themselves, should get in touch by emailing . A meeting for all participants will be held in April.
All money raised will be handed to the York City Supporters Trust, to help enable them and all the directors, management, players and staff at Bootham Crescent to continue the excellent work, which has been carried out in recent times.
Any individual or business wishing to help sponsor the event should contact Laurence via

Advice for cyclists:
-
Get your bike serviced before the trip;
-
Bring a puncture repair kit;
-
Bring some food and plenty to drink;
- You don't need to be super fit to do this, but it is advisable to prepare by cycling e.g. York to Riccall and back as a practice;
- A mountain bike is recommended as most of the route is off-road
