I don't want to sound like a negative whinger but what are City's chances of pulling in the 5440 average gate needed to break even? When was the last time we averaged over 5000 in a season? 1975-76 if I'm not mistaken.Even in the championship season of 84 we didn't get that much and we had a damn sight better team then than we have now and Leeds were in the old second division.I can't see it happening at all despite JB's much appreciated attempts to muster support from the apathetic public of York.I sincerely hope we can achieve that level of support but how many people are going to watch third division football at £12 a time?

I will come to most home matches and pay £12
Though I live only 300 yards from the ground, I never bothered with the team until Xmas when everything came to a head.
Since then I've been 5 times and we won each match. Perhaps I'm just lucky or maybe easily entertained but £12 is not bad value for a seat in the main stand.
Half the problem is the amount of away support that comes.

Main stand seat will cost you £15 next season phil. unless you are now buying a season ticket. Come and join us in the Longhurst. Better atmosphere, less distance to go for a pie and easier access to the loos.
Come and join us, come and join us, come and join us over here.
Even JB comes into the heart of the fans when he wants a not so quiet fag and a good sing-a-long.
We hope for more "Sit down if you love JB", next season.
It makes him blush, but you never saw Dougie in the Longhurst.

That reminds me John. If we are really going to get five and half thousand next year (And I sincerely hope we do) those lovely ladies in the kiosk (squad Nos. 70 and 71) are going to be stretched. The queues are going to be out of the ground

That is a good point. I think we should be aiming at offering more refreshments at BC. More people there means more opportunity for more sales and more money for the club

So Phil, you live next to the ground, you saw 5 games last season yet youve posted 43 times on this board. Perhaps you need to get your priorities right. The term 'fair weather supporter' comes to mind.!
I can always use the excuse that i live in Hartlepool!

Walwyn, Borofan knock that crap off guys. I live in Aus and have probably seen more games than the both of you...now what a totally dumb comment that is too?
Phil welcome, ignore them. It's NOT a competion and I wish some people here would stop that or some of the older ones of us are likely to start crapping on about freezing cold Tuesday nights a Spotland in the snow in the late 1970s when we were the crapest team I have ever seen.
All are welcome here and at BC. It's stupid attitudes that probably have kept a number of people away in the past. Don't let's keep it going. The logic of that argument would allow Douglas Craig to claim that he is a better supporter than most of us as he has attended a lot of games!!! We know that's crap so stop it ok?

Only moved to York 18 months ago and last September started a full time Uni course in Hull.
However as my support is not good enough for you, I will spend my money and Saturday afternoons plus Tuesday evenings somewhere else.
Goodbye
(ps I might turn up when City get a premier league club in the cup. A friend of mine is a season ticket holder and I'll get him to buy me a seat. Would be shame if you missed out because of fair weather supporter like me got sorted before you.)

BoroFan and Walwyn are typical examples of a lot of City fans.
Someone new turns up at a City match and they are Glory Hunters. Phi. Latio turned up when City needed support, ie when City were in danger of folding.Well done to him. Now he says he is going to spend his £12 at the gates and our two aforementioned City "supporters" start to have a go at him.
BoroFan and Walwyn - JB and everyone else involved in York City Soccer Club probably don't give a damn how many times you saw York City in the past, they want YOU and new fans to come in the future. I want success and therefore I welcome any new follower.
Welcome Phil. You will be welcome at the Crescent.
And I hope the small minded minority are talking about glory hunters all next season because it means we will be winning.
(Sometimes I think some people want to see a team at the bottom of the league just so they can claim "I am one of the loyal 1500 who goes" - well enough is enough- I have been one of the loyal supporters for near on 40 years and now I want to see the success that will encourage more CITY FANS not glory hunters to come down each week)

Sorry for any offence Phil. I was unaware that you were a new fan. I assumed that you were a local who couldnt be bothered. That is the impression given by the original message.
Many apologies, in fact my message wasnt totally serious, hence the Hartlepool bit. I used that as an excuse a number of times last season!
I was probably there at Spotland with you in the late 70's deeU, its years of that crap that perhaps makes us a bit judgemental at times!

DeeUU - It was probably the nite when I got thumped> The only time that I have been involved in a fight at a football match. And as I was hit from behind I had noo chance! (That's my excuse for the black eye and not a scratch on him!)
We got a brick through the window and a tyre slashed on the coach. So Rochdale are not exactly my favourite team!
But I am sure there were worse performances - Tranmere on a Friday night always spring to mind - always lost usually by 3!

I remember Oldham with that winger Groves, who married a 15 year old schoolgirl and then was found dead in bed aged 29 of a heart attack (not sure if there was a link !?)
I think you are right about getting thumped (afraid I did a bit back if I remember rightly...god I was an arsehole when I was a lad!). Dave just re-read what you wrote...I promise I didn't thump you it was definitely a couple of them
Absolute worst has to be Donnie though. my worst memory was of getting whacked TWICE before Christmas by them...I always saw them far more as rivals than the Cods when I was a kid, so the season we got relegated from 3 and made up 12 points on them for them to go down bottom has to be among one of my oddest high points! Now that is a bizarre one ain't it?

It shows the problems that lower division teams have in making any kind of money. It was the serious mismanagement of Douglas Craig that got a financial secure club into one that was near extinction. If you were to attract 5,440 per game you need results and flair players, which at the moment will not happen. I don't think many people realised how badly the clubs were managed and still are. JB's contacts are needed badly to maintain the club's status because you need the money to get the right players and then the right players playing attractive football will get the people watching!

Phil, you're more than welcome at Bootham, especially as we never lose when you're there.
Fancy buying a season ticket?
