The Minstermen's cup tie against Barnsley has been moved to SUNDAY 9th NOVEMBER (originally Saturday 8th)
Due to Parkin's unlucky sending off against Scunthorpe on Saturday he will miss the Barnsley FA Cup game. Brass was due to study video footage of the incident this afternoon but unless City decide to appeal against an alleged elbow against Scunthorpe defender Cliff Byrne Parkin will face at least a 3 match ban. The suspension could be extended due to Parkin's sending off against Livingston in a pre-season friendly. Due to this Parkin will miss the chance to play against his former club in the FA Cup 1st round tie on November 9
Brass commented "It is unfortunate for Jon but if he has done it then he perhaps will now learn from it, he has not said a great deal about it and he was quiet on Saturday."
The clash with the Tykes is sure to attract another massive crowd just a week before their all ticket derby clash with Doncaster Rovers. The game with Barnsley will not be all ticket.
"We are at home and you always want a home tie. We will certainly look forward to it and we are playing well enough at home." said York player/manager Chris Brass who went on to add, "Hopefully, they will bring a few supporters along and it will make a good atmosphere. They have started well in Division Two and it will be certainly be interesting to see how far we have come this season."
Parkin will have to watch the game from the stands but that gives City midfielder Mitch Ward a chance to line up against his former club. Ward was the Barnsley skipper last season until joining York on a free transfer in the summer.
Brass has confirmed that on loan striker Dean Crowe has returned to Luton Town after failing to impress in his 1 month loan spell at the club.
Brass said "He has got an abundance of ability but sometimes this happens and the fact we have big Jon back made the decision a little easier. At the same time I am going to lose Jon for three games now and I have got to make sure Jon keeps his fitness levels up."
The sending off and Crowe's return to Kenilworth Road means that Brass may have to look on the loan market again for a new striker. It depends what happens with the sending off.
York striker Gary Browne, on loan to Whitby scored in the blues 2-2 win at Bromsgrove Rovers on Saturday. If Whitby win on Wednesday they face a mouth watering trip to second division Hartlepool United. |
