City- After the encouraging performance against a strong Oxford side in mid week boss Chris Brass will be reluctant to make too many changes ahead of the trip to Glanford Park.

Two definate absentees will be Christian Fox and Levent Yalcin with knee and groin injuries, and will remain absent for a good while yet. Another player that has been familiar with the treatment room is club captain Darren Edmondson who has been out since the away defeat at Lincoln with a persistent calf injury. However he is well on the road to recovery and a place on the bench looks the most likely

While knee ligament damage will be keeping Steven Downes out of the side, the rest of the squad will be battling it out for a place in the traveling party, with loanees Dean Crowe and Craig Dove aiming to prove their worth, which they have failed to do so far in their respective loan spells at the club. However both are unlikely to figure with the excellent display in mid-week, and Lee Nogan all but securing a starting place with his 3rd goal of the season against Oxford .

Likely line up - Ovendale, Brass, Smith, Hope, Cooper, Merris, Dunning, Bullock, Ward, Parkin Nogan.

Scunthorpe boss Brian Laws, who was absent from the last match on compassionate leave, has a lengthy injury list to deal with ahead of the clash with a rejuvenated York.

Scunthorpe come into the game on the back of a 4-1 away win at Carlisle, however injury worries come thick and fast with Alex Calvo-Garcia's ankle injury being one of many. X-rays have confirmed the Spaniard has not suffered a fracture, but the club are in the dark over how long he will remain sidelined. Nathan Stanton is also doubtful with a knee injury which ruled him out of the weekends trip to Northampton, and Tuesdays victory over Carlisle, while Matt Sparrow is unlikely to feature after picking up a hamstring strain.

Lee Featherstone is also a doubt with a calf injury, while Richard Kell serves the second of a three game suspension. However some positive news is that Leeds youngster Paul Keegan should be included in the Iron squad to make his debut for the club, and bolster the midfield in the absence of Sparrow

Likely line-up - Russel, Butler, Jackson, Sharpe, Barwick, Beagrie, Byrne, Keegan, Kilford, MacLean, Torpey

Form Guide - City- Cambridge(H) 2-0 W, Mansfield(A) 2-0 L, Halifax(A-LDV Vans) 2-1 L, Boston(H) 1-1 D, Oxford(H) 2-2D.

Scunthorpe- Rochdale(A) 2-0 L, Lincoln(H) 3-1 L, Shrewsbury)H LDV Vans)2-1 W, Northampton(A) 1-1 D, Carlisle(A) 4-1 W.

Last Meeting 1st January 2003 - City 1-3 Scunthorpe
Steve Torpey opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 14 minutes after Tom Cowan had over-stretched as he tried to make a tackle and upended Wayne Graves just inside the area.

There was no real dispute it was a penalty, and there was no real dispute from Alan Fettis as Torpey rammed his spot-kick home.

City's equaliser came when Darren Edmondson latched on to Andy Dawson's wayward header, drifted inside a couple of challenges before driving the ball home from 18 yards.

The scores didn't remain level for long however as Lee Bullock got caught in possession in midfield by Matthew Sparrow, who rolled the ball out wide to Carruthers, hogging the right touch line.

The former Aston Villa front-man had plenty of options but cut in from the flank before unleashing an unstoppable drive from 25 yards that flew into the far top corner of the net.

Scunthorpe added a third, and final goal on 50 minutes. It was a goal stunning in its simplicity; Lee Featherstone crossed from the left, Torpey nodded the ball down and Graves lashed it home from 18 yards.

Potter, Duffield, Parkin and Edmondson all went close as City threw caution to the wind but none went as close as Gary Hobson, who had one effort blocked on the line then moments later saw another close-range stab deflected on to the post.

Try as they might, City could not break through. But, in the circumstances, that they were trying at all was more than enough.

City: Fettis 7, Edmondson 7, Smith 6 (Cooper 75m), Hobson 8, Cowan 7, Potter 7, Fox 8, Bullock 7, Nogan 6 (Wilding 82m), Duffield 6, Parkin 6.

Scunthorpe: Evans, Stanton, Jackson, Byrne, Dawson (Brough 46m), Sparrow, Graves, Kilford (Calvo-Garcia 75m), Featherstone, Carruthers (McCombe 65m), Torpey. Subs, not used: Collins, Parton.
