 |
|
Some will know me and some won't but my band SHATNER are playing at Fibbers in York on Wednesday 10th October. It's a special night for us because we are supporting a guy called Vinny Peculiar who has Bonehead formerly from Oasis and Mike Joyce from The Smiths joining him as his backing band!
Visit our website at www.shatner.info which has a link to our myspace page or check out www.fibbers.co.uk
Come along and support a fellow City fan. Plus it'll make a change to see some of you away from BC, err yeah Kit Kat Crescent. I can feel a City shirt being worn for this gig...might even get out the old Maroon Y front!! I know it's a school night but this will be an ace gig!!!!!!!! |

Someday, synthesizers will be able to recreate the sound of a bassoon. Not in our lifetime, but someday. |

I'll stick to standing up and playing the four strings, anything else is far too complicated.

I can honestly say (not just because Whinmoor Red is my brother) that Shatner are well worth a visit. |

Good one! Plenty of new stuff soon. New album is out sometime in October if we ever get it finished.

Didn't I see you support Pete Wylie at the Leeds Irish Centre a two or three years ago? |

Yes it was our second ever gig, cold night in December 2004. Lots of drunken antics by Pete Wylie that night! I'm sure he drank about 3 bottles of red wine on his own!

A London based mate of mine, a massive Wylie nut, has a bootleg of Wylie's part of the gig. He's heading up to Liverpool to catch him play one of his monthly 'classics' night on Saturday. I'd be there myself if I wasn't skint.

The sound in The Irish Centre is always great. Shame that so few people turned up to see Wylie. I assume that he still gets big crowds in Liverpool?

I couln't stand 'The mighty' Pete Wylie 'Heat' or whatever he was called, then I saw him with Dead Men Walking and changed my mind, he's still a scouser though.

He does seem to get a crowd. His lastest idea is to do a monthly set of originals and covers at the Zanzibar, with a set theme for each night. His forthcoming one is dedicated to the Erics scene:

There's at least 4 of my acquaintances turning up for this one - if only I could join them.

It's on Wednesday night this gig! It would be great to see some of you at Fibbers. At least playing in a band momentarily makes me forget just how crap YCFC are at the moment. COME ON SHATNER! www.shatner.info |

York is the epicentre of culture on Wednesday night as Atilla the Stockbroker is also performing (at Kennedys). |

Tell me after watching the video are you influenced by Madness (the band not the disease - or maybe both )
Well done and good luck to Shatner

Also I thought I heard a bit of the B-52's, then I noticed one of their backing singers is called Planet Claire.

I suppose we're influenced by lots of people although I don't think that we've ever been linked to Madness in a musical sense but I see what you mean about the video.
We've got a new album coming out in the next couple of weeks with gigs in London/Leeds/Norwich already lined up. The York one should be good.
Anyone any idea who I'd need to give our cd to at York home matches? Its about time that we got played!

Doesnt the bloke who plays the music post on here? Perhaps someone can remind you who he is and a pm to him to sort out getting a cd to him would work Whinmoor Red. I seem to remeber he advertises his disco on his sign off line (despite advertising not being allowed on the forum )
Incidentally whilst we are talking about music at BC - what was that crap played when we scored yesterday- I thought that idea of playing music after we scored had been dropped - Still if the DJ wants to make us into an even bigger tinpot club what say have we as fans got in the matter?

Did they play music when we scored? If so that has to be stopped! and what did they play? It's just so tacky. Missed the game yesterday but will be back for some more punishment on Tuesday night.
Maybe giving them our cd isn't such a good idea after all! |
