Certainly looks pretty dire...

Cue Phil and his criticism of the Conference admin by letting Halifax start the league in the first place.... Wink

Seriously though hasn't this story kept surfacing over the past few years? It doesn't look good for them on the surface of it, but hopefully something will turn up for their supporters. That said, their transfer policy of late has been a little suspect for a club in financial strife - the likes of Andy Campbell and Greg Young will no doubt be on good wages for this level.

Get in with a cheeky bid for their central defender Quinn. The clubs administrators would have to consider the offer.

They should just do what Telford had to endure, they still might get the 1,000 or so attending. It wouldn't be long before they were back at this stage - no debts - stronger etc.

I know there's an obsession with getting a big strong centre back but I saw this fellow on a number of occasions last season (due to McGill's obsession with Friday nights...) and he looks a bit dodgy.

No improvement whatsoever of McGurk and Parslow.

No idea who Quinn is, but after Parslow and McGurk's performance last night, I don't think we're in desperate need for a new centre-back if they keep playing like that.

For me we are lacking in height. Imo the way teams play at this level it will cause us problems.

Not nice to see any team in financial problems, but as has already been said surely spending the amounts they have in the last few seasons brought it on. Warning to all Conference sides, including us!

A couple of the comments seem very optimistic about cash that 'always turns up'. They can't think like that for the rest of the life of the FC!

Hmmm. I thought this project was looking to take over a club with little or no debt, so Halifax hardly fit that criteria. You also wonder whether there will be enough time left for MyFootballClub to explore the HTFC situation, look at other clubs, get the necessary money collected and complete all the voting etc, before Halifax cease to exist.

If the project really does have a number of clubs to choose from, then its hard to see them selecting a debt riden outfit, weeks away from going bust. But then I suppose the Halifax owners and fans will be all the more willing to be the guinea pig for this nonsense because of their desperate situation, so who knows? Maybe?

Will watch the outcome with interest.

Nah, just found it a bit ago, thought it reflected the current situation at City pretty well Sad

As for Halifax, I can't see anything coming of this. Apparently, MFC have sent out e-mails to all the people who pledged to pay so they may be considering something. As people have said however, I can't see even 50% paying up.

I expect it will be one of these novelty pipe dream ideas that gradually disappears, but I'm kind of hoping it isn't just to see what happens at said club.

I'm not surprised at £15 a ticket. No OAP or student discount now either, I'd always pop across from Huddersfield if York weren't playing and hand over my £6 but not now.

I was talking to some Halifax fans on the train to our game on the Thursday night and thye said the only way they could get student discount was if they bought a season ticket, bit harsh asking students to stump up the money at once, they could at least wait until the loans/grants come through Wink

They also said they go from one reason for closing to another, the ground last year?! This year the general finances, they didn't seem to have a clue what was going on at their club. Sound familiar?

Well I hope they don't fold or it's 6 points lost when Northwich do next week and almost back to where we started.

Wouldn't make much of a difference, practically every fu***r has beaten Northwich anyway.

And I doubt Halifax will fold. Yet.

Halifax avoid winding-up petition

Halifax Town have safeguarded their immediate future by staving off a winding-up petition.
The club was due back in the High Court on Wednesday to face the action brought by HM Revenue and Customs.

But Halifax confirmed that the Inland Revenue has "withdrawn the petition" after a tax bill believed to be around £100,000 was paid.

Boss Chris Wilder said: "Hopefully we can put it behind us, move forward and be more positive about the future."

A group of investors is still hoping to finalise a deal to take control of the former Football League club.
