Police raid three football clubs

Police have raided three football clubs as part of an investigation into alleged corruption in football.
Newcastle United is believed to be one of the clubs raided but the other clubs involved have yet to be named.

The operation is not connected to Lord Stevens' ongoing Quest inquiry into the Premiership and was "totally independent", police said.

Search warrants were executed on the club premises and two homes between 0730 and 0900 BST.

A police spokesman said: "We can confirm that search warrants were served at three football clubs and the homes of two individuals in connection with corruption in football and its impact on owners and shareholders."

A Northumbria Police spokesman said they were aware that "an operation" had been carried out by their London colleagues at St James' Park, the home of Newcastle United.

Other two clubs are Rangers and Portsmouth.

I bet young Joey Barton sh*t-a-brick and legged it out the back door when he saw “Plod” rolling in to Sid James Park this morning, probably nicked Big Sam's jag to make good his escape.

Or
If it's any irregularities over the Boumsong transfer they might actually give points back to Newcastle to make up for the points he lost them when he was playing.

OR
they could be looking for the bright young button Miss NEWCASTLE who sells the 50/50 tickets!!!

It looks like it involves agent Willie McKay, Graeme Souness and the transfers to Newcastle of Jean-Alain Boumsong and Amady Faye.

Disappointing, as they'd said it was seperate to the bung enquiry. I was hoping FF was going to be brought to justice. It's somewhat duplicitous that they sacked Kevin Bond following the BBC documentary then hired Sam Allardyce who was implicated not only in the programme but by virtue of his son!

It's rumoured that FF's was one of the two private addresses raided. Also Souness claimed not to have been involved in any of the transfers whilst he was at Newcastle as they were all handled by FF. Keep your fingers crossed!!

We live in hope! I do seem to rant a lot about Newcastle Utd but my main and really only gripe (apart from the slightly wayward aspirations of the fans) is Freddie. I wonder if Greg has heard anything on the grapevine!

I think he's a little busy at the moment to comment.
