On Saturday, a few people discussed their interest in going to Burton (April 7th (Easter weekend)) but York Minstermen are reluctant to commit to anything due to poor responses for previous games this season.
Therefore, I've started this thread to gauge opinion into whether a coach to Burton Albion would be viable and thus give the YMM a hint!

A reasonable length drive to a nice new ground with previously tried & tested public houses, not forgetting a match between 2 high flying teams at a crucial point of the season, who's in??

Yes I'd be interested. The train is always an option, but the ground is some way from the station and it would be a pain getting back there after the game.

The reason for reluctance is the lack of response this season for previously planned trips, plus the fact that the people who normally arrange travel are busy with the Spring Draw, which is to be drawn the Thursday before the Burton game.

Anyone prepared to help YMM organise travel is always welcome.

I think there is a few of us intending to go by train - but if there was a coach I am sure that would be prefered.

I do warn people thinking of taking the train option that the ground is a long, long walk from the station. It is not an aesthetically pleasing walk either, especially when it pisses it down ridiculously like last year.

Taxi?

A taxi? Maybe from the station to the ground, but the other way there was nothing. No way I could get a taxi. Besides, there is no way on earth this student is paying for a taxi!

This however is very true, I had a hangover last time so could not get up early enough. The walk back was the nightmare last year for me though, soaked right through.

I've asked the coach company for a quote and will post the cost of travelling as soon as I know it.

From there on it's up to you!

We've got two home games the week before (Stevenage and Gravesend & Northfleet) so there'll be plenty of time to make bookings and pay deposits - if we're short of numbers by the end of the G&N game, the coach won't run.

I've provisionally booked a YMM coach.

Cost will be £12 for YMM members, £15 for non members.

Departure will be 9.30am from the Memorial Gardens, Leeman Road.

Unless we've had 30 definite bookings by 6pm on Saturday 31st March, the trip won't run.

pm me or email

We've got nineteen booked so far - and some have even paid.

That's not bad a month ahead of the trip, but we still need 11 more to make certain it runs.

pm me or email (not .com as on a recent What's On flyer Embarassed ) to book your place.

Paying up front will secure your seat in the event of the coach being full - give your money to any YMM committee member in the Social Club before or after games (ask at the bar if you don't know any of us) or at any of our events.

Alternatively book by post to YMM, 9 Waverley Street, York YO31 7QZ. make your cheque payable to York Minstermen.

As it stands (still stuck on 27) the coach to Burton will run.

A few more people would make it a certainty - pm me or email

While City were drawing at Exeter, Burton were beating Morecambe, and are now three points behind City with a game in hand.

Building up nicely for a massive game on April 7th - pm me now to book your seat on the YMM coach.
