When does the new job start AD?
Although TBH that was quite a mellow scolding in comparison to some.

Well go on then...
Mine was a night match at BC in about 1961 - no idea against who or what the score was.
My first non City match was a schoolboy international in about 1965 or 6 when England beat Scotland (as usual )

Believe my 1st match was when i was around 10. Was Shef Wed vs Coventry. In fact saw the same fixture the next year. I recall both games were quite bad. Although I remember Micky Quinn playing for Cov. Hilarious. Fat, slow, but managed to have a great touch whenever he was on the ball. Then came City the following year...

You really should be sending pms for questions like that Pogo!
(but as you asked a week on Monday should see the daily postings of AD drop dramatically!)

Burnley 1 - 2 York, I was 7 at the time I think. So 8 years ago. Don't remember too much about the match really, I remember thinking the stadium was great.

First game: Sheff Wed v West Ham, May 1981. This game was snowed off at the end of April and was the last game of the season on the Friday night before the Cup Final (Spurs-Man City). West Ham were already Div 2 champions and won 1-0 with a late goal from Nicky Morgan. Billy Bonds went off injured and so missed his one and only chance to play for England after being included in the squad to play a friendly against Brazil that month.
First City game: August 1981 pre season friendly v Barnsley. Don't remember the score but it was my friend Michael Cook's 7th birthday and his dad took a few of us as a birthday treat.

I can't remember my exact first game but one of them was against Blackpool at home and their keeper got sent off for hand ball in around 1997 I think.

1976 a night game at home to Lincoln in the old div 3 relegation year, was called off at half time due to a frozen pitch, then started to go to the home games the following year used to stand in enclosure near the away end.
First non city was a Leeds v Mancs in late 70's

Mine was the Coca-Cola cup final at Wembley between Arsenal and Sheffield Wednesday in 1993. Can remember getting up really early and crying at the end with my dad but didn't have a clue what was going on. I was only 4. |

Apparently after the game he asked his Dad why the Burnley fans were singing,
"Come on you carrots!"

Friday 9th October 1970: City 2 Southport 0.
Albert Johanneson scored his first City goal and Phil Boyer got the other.
I'd been allowed to go because I was supposed to meet a mate from school outside Rowntrees, but he never turned up, and I spent a couple of seconds agonising over whether to go to the game or go home.
I made the right decision (though I didn't dare tell my parents I'd ended up going on my own) and had to find my own way to the ground. I got lost a couple of times before finding the footpath to the footbridge over the railway - this was before the hospital was built, so it must have been a dark and scary route for an 11-year old on his own |

First ever game; Leeds Vs Plymouth, FA cup - early 70s I guess. Leeds won 3-1 I think.
First City game; Huddersfield at home in the promotion to the (real) 2nd division season, think we won 2-1 & the players did a lap of honour after the game!
First international; England Vs N Ireland, about 1974/75 - England ripped them apart & finished up winning 4-1.

Leeds United vs. Nottingham Forest, 19th January 1980. Forest won by 2 goals to 1. Trevor Francis scored a corker of a goal.
I think I've got the date right. I remember the result and it being either 1979 or 1980. There was a game in May 1979 with the same result, but I'm sure that the floodlights were on when we left the ground. |

Watford V York in about 1996 I think.
Got some free tickets and had to sit in the home end as we drew 1-1.

City 1-0 Bristol Rovers, Oct 2, 1984.
Keith Walwyn scored in (I think) the first half, and City replaced Rovers at the top of the old old Div 3 (ie League One). Just over 7,000 in for a Tuesday night game.
It was one of John Byrne's last games for us.
22 years and 900+ games later......

Think around 1994 time, remember it was a 0-0 home draw against Hull, and a City player was sent off.
Anyone know when this would have been, who was sent off?
