I have just been watching the build up to the Barcelona v Chelsea game and it was just talking about Mourinho.
Do you think Mourinhos style is good for the game of football or bad for it?
Chelsea are 1 - 0 down what do you think Mourinhos excuse will be if they lose against Barca?

The excuse will be everything under the sun other than him or his team.
No, Mourinho is neither good nor bad for football in my opinion. Hes just another person who tries his hardest to be controvesial whenever and wherever he feels the need.
He's good for football in certain ways, like when Chelski scored against Liverpool in the League cup final two seasons aga. Walking down the touchline with finger on lips. infuriating but very entertaining.
But he is bad for football in other ways, again with the fingers on lips thing. How can he be setting a good example to anybody by doing that. If his players see him behave like that, they tend not to be as 'controlled' in certain situations, then it spills over (Essien tackles, anyone??) and kids try to copy it. negative for football.
Hes also a VERY bad looser.
and i hate him.

He also has an annoying habit before a big game of saying something controversial in order to deflect scrutiny of his team, him and tactics onto their teams and their tactics.
It is becoming rather tediously predictable now.

Er but it keeps working. For as long as he is succesful he will get away with it. Ok he has had money but to his credit he has't just bought individual talent he has moulded them into a team not Galaticos. Hence tonights never say die attitude other teams would have just setttled for defeat. He dosen't need to do it but it makes good viewing and takes pressure of his players and more often than not it works.
In the end his players did his talking tonight and it was Barca and Riijkard who were losing the plot at the end.
IMO I like Wenger love the way his sides play football and would love to see Arsenal win everything but I was dissapointed by his comments after the draw with Everton. He has been here 10 years now you have to beat what is in front of you and you can't expect other sides just to stand off and let you play.

Shevchenko & Ballack? I suppose it's only been a couple of months- but isn't that a case of individual talent taking priority over what will work best within the team?

I doubt that Sheva was Mourinho's signing. In fairness to Ballack despite his reputation as been arrogant and more an individual. I think he proved at the WC what a good team player he is.
Of course there is a theory that Ballack has affected Lampards game. I don't really buy it. The team spirit at Chelsea puts some of the other clubs to shame.
I think with Cole Mourinho made the fuss because he didn't really want to lose Gallas to a Domestic Rival. Contrast that to his pursuit of Essien ffrom Lyon. He was prepared to sacrifice Tiago who IMO is one of the best Attacking Midfielders in Europe to get his man. I doubt he would have sold Tiago to an English Team.

to be fair- Lampard's game was pretty sh1tty before Ballack arrived. That same World Cup, where Ballack shined, Lampard stunk out the entire competition. Did anyone else hear a rumour that Terry (I think it was Terry) had some some sort of bet on with Lumpard that he'd score before him- hence the incredible number of shots (only one of which was on-target, and had the power of a gnat's trump) from Frank

He's just a top notch football coach/manager who can work with players with immense talent & with players who have limited ablity & them into successful teams.
I don't care what he says after or before a game because I don't listen to it.

"Aggie MacKenzie, from television programme 'How Clean Is Your House?', has some words of advice for Jose Mourinho after he slid across the Nou Camp turf in his suit to celebrate Drogba's goal. "Grass stains are really hard. You need a biological washing powder that contains enzymes that will break down the proteins in grass stains." ( The Times)
So, all is not lost then. Isn't it funny what passes for news in the quality broadsheets?

Tim Lovejoy has just said Mourinho always gives good 'head
lines!'
Helen Chamberlain is struggling to keep a straight face.

You know what it is with him. I think he thinks of himself as the Mohammed Ali of Football.
By which i mean that ali would beat you with his mind, he would destroy an opponent without laying a finger on him. He'd kill him off in HIS OWN HEAD, and make his opponent beleive that he was up against it from the off. Mourinho tries the same thing, he's just not half as talented at what he does as Ali was at what he did. thats the difference.

He's just a football manager with access to a monstrous cheque book FFS...
Reading this, you'd think you were psychoanalysing Albert Schweitzer or critiquing Sartre's existentialist credentials...
