Why is that where you and Yabba go
Anyway, Malton Spice on Clarence Street is also really good, although a little further out of town, I often drop in there when I've staggered out of the Social Club on a Saturday.

No , Malton Spice actually, your right. Its good, only 2 minutes from town centre by the Union Car Park.
I see Holden spills out of the Tory social club.
I recall the YEP saying someone getting stabbed there recently & the police battering someone inside (and I don't mean using chapati flour either).

That's not fighting! In Teesside that's thought of as a 'little disagreement'.

I never agreed with the 'smog argument' of others, I'm reconsidering my position.

Anyone from Teeside or spends too long, has been effected by their smog intake -
(which Gster may translate to -' Tod says all blacks must not be seen on TV'.)

Ah, I see. I do keep getting a strange coloured dust on my car. Maybe it's this 'smog' stuff.

try one of the many new ones opened up on goodramgate, it's quickly becoming yorks own curry half-mile. avoid bootham...last time in there the police had to forcible remove a drunken scottish guy who began getting a little heated at the ethnic serving staff. apprently they should have gone forth back to india and multiplied. the curry wasnt to ogreat either but the nice man gave us a free beer for the trouble

Last time we went to the Thai resteraunt one of the waiters ripped off a member of our group by £20 as he was the last out and tricked him by saying that we had given them £20 short.

Which one ? If it was the one I mentioned I am sure it was a genuine mistake/misunderstanding because I know/worked with the staff and they are not like that.

Another vote here for the Viceroy.
Has the Himalyan (spelling) on Micklegate shut down? I heard a whisper that this had happened. That used to be ok if the Viceroy was full.

While I admit that the Viceroy is very good, it's still not a patch on York Spice, Bishopthorpe Road.

Has anyone tried the new Saffron Desi on Micklegate (where the Jinnah used to be)?

I would sadly disagree, I used to go there regularly once over.
Then took a load of pals from Brum in there, it nearly kicked off because they put potato in their balti's.
Every christmas eve for a few years until 2 years on the bounce found it pants.
No flavour & served up nothing better than baby food paste.
Malton Spice or Bay of Bengal , Butcher Terrace worth the taxi fare.

Have I buggery.
The matt black paint and black decor, just like the bar nearby and Montey's Rock Cafe by Micklegate Bar makes that end of Micklegate look as seedy as a street full of porn shops.
I think it's what passes for "style" this year.
The Viceroy gets my vote, Ivan.
