Where did you get that information from?

Looked on the link given above, checked the price and day return, direct to crawley, was £79.50.

Looks like i'll have to miss this one out!

I looked on the little Machines in the Ticket place at the Railway Station.

So the fact I'm doing it for £42 AND paying on the day?!

Rob - make sure you get a train that goes through GRANTHAM, then you can get a Cheap Day Return from York to Grantham, and then a Grantham Travel card to Kings X. Then you can get your Cheap Day return From London stations to Crawley, along with your tube tickets.

With a Young Persons Railcard, that comes to around £42. Without, around £55. Wink

...Or do a 'me', and pay £38.60 and go via National Express, (Boro-London-Gatwick and back)...Oh, but find you'll need to find a local bus service and Crawley's ground for yourself from Gatwick. Laughing

Oh, and its a bleedin' 3 day jaunt! Laughing Laughing

I bought a return to Crawley today from a human being at the train station for £52. This was with a young persons rail card discount. The human being at the station told me that this was the cheapest price she could find me as I had left it fairly late.

Yes but they are not allowed to tell you this...

Slight correction: no tube tickets needed (that's the travelcard part), and the "london stations to Crawley" should read East Croydon to Crawley.

You can get the whole lot at York on the day, but only if you ask for it. They're not allowed to tell you about it.

With the amount you save, entry to the game is effectively free, and with change left over for food!

I'm not likely to be going to the match myself, but I used to spend a lot of time down in Crawley on training courses, so I've experience of getting to and from there by train.

Crawley railway station is on a branch line. However there's also a station called Three Bridges nearby which is on the main line to Brighton and served by far more trains. It'll be easier catching a train to and from that station.

I think Three Bridges is also closer to the ground, but I may be wrong.

No point flying from Pocklington International Gliderport when you can get a train for less than half that price. Wink

I'm wrong - I was thinking about another sports ground. The ground is closer to Crawley station, but that gets far fewer (and slower) trains.

It's quite a trek from the station as well.
