The situation in Lebanon is getting worse. With Iran and Syria in the mix the potential for a full scale conflict is too high.

Glad to see an MLS team beat the sh*t out of Celtic! Laughing

Amen.

The Jews have been bad news throughout the whole of history, not forgetting the execution of popular revolutionary Jesus Christ.

If we weren't so busy killing so many people elsewhere, I would suggest an invasion.

Nice argument from the "anti" Confused war camp. Although it does ring a bell....ah yes!

On a more football related note, are we not in the same group as Israel for the European qualifyers, or have I got that wrong? I'd check but the computer here is so slow and I start work in ten minutes.

If 'yes', what would be the likely scenario?

We are indeed. Even if this hadn't have all kicked off, I reckon the away game would be played in somewhere like Cyprus or Geneva anyway.

Shocked Thats the most stupid post I've read since I re-read one of my own ones!!

Seriously though, Israel has not caused this current crisis, and instead finds itself surrounded by terrorist groups and even nations that openly call for its destruction. Israel is also being attacked on a daily basis by extreme Islamic groups that are KNOWN to be getting their ammo from the likes of Syria and Iran.
What is Israel supposed to do under these circumstances? Just hope they eventually go away?! If the leaders of the likes of Iran are not going to force these attacks to stop, Israel will... and right now they are.

Comeon now Robert, do you really belive its all those dirty Arabs fault?

I think you'll find Isreal started this whole crisis many years ago when it decided to invade its neighbours for its own gain. Of course behind that you'll find ours and the US's involvement.

As I said Isreal should be wiped off the map. It should be merged back with the Palatinian areas and be called Palastine again. Then free and fair elections should be held that treat everyone as equals.

No it did not. It was in response to the many declartaions of war undertaken by their neighbours.

The UN voted for this country to begin so it is their fault and they should solve the problems there.

Agreed but the analogy of Jews as rats is surely anti-semetic (1930s Nazi propaganda films anyone?.

Israel v Andorra is going to take place in Tel-Aviv.

Looks like there no guarantee that England's trip to Israel on the 24th of March will get moved.

It's a little more high-profile than the Andorra game though it's probably fair to say!

Well I agree with anawayfan.

Israel cannot be free from all blame of course...some for example might say that their attacks on Lebanon is somewhat disproportionate and is likely to fuel further Islamic attacks, not prevent them. However, I still believe that it is the nations of Iran and Syria and those aiding Lebanese and Palastine terrorist groups that are largely to blame for the current crisis, and if Israel wishes to defend itself by attacking Hezbollah and Hamas strongholds, then it should be allowed to do so.

In the meantime, the UN should also stop bickering among each other and lay down solid plans to help resolve the situation ASAP before it escallates.

Agree but in the end it comes down to the profile of the players. Englands pampered millionaires won't want to play in Israel and will do what Chelsea players did a while ago. Whereas the Andorran players will only care only about representing their country.

If you were a terrorist organisation and wanting to grab the headlines worldwide, would you attack someone like England, or a place most people would be unable to point out on a map?

Good point but IMO the Chelsea situation of a few years ago was an insult to the Israeli security and people. Other countries and club sides have played games there without any problems.

English teams have a habit of crying off these fixtures. Leeds bottled out of going to Belgrade a few years ago whilst other Clubs didn't. Why let Politics and Terrorists win Question

I have to sgree with DMN here as Israel is a dispicable country and has been since its formation and has to be stopped. It uses methods such as mass punishment including the demolition of civilian houses as we saw a few years ago in Jenin and now it is bombing civilian targets in Lebanon. Sadly this is able to go as it has the support of the US due to the strength of the Jewish Lobbies in the US such as AIPAC.
I do not support what the "terrorist" groups in the middle east are doing but we have to remember that Isreal should not be there as it is land that was stolen from Palastine and should be given back.

H'mm I suppose that depends on wheather you think that Jews deserve their own homeland or not.

They have been persecuted for years. Visit the Ann Frank Musuem, Jewish Quarter in Prague or Auschwitz and then you may just feel a little bit more sympathy to the cause.

But isn't it sad that a people who have been the victims of terrible atrocities have used these tragic moments to justify their own participation in an anti-Arab holocaust?

Wise people learn from some things, they don't use them as an excuse to propagate their own forms of human evil.

I have visited the Anne Frank museum and don't try and make out that I am anti semitic, I think it is awful what has happened to the Jews. But two wrongs don't make a right and I am not going to justify the way the state of Israel was formed and its existence.

I agree but unfortunately that seems to be the way of the world. It depends on your perspective I can feel sympathy for both sides. We also need to look at our own role in this. Who promised the Jews their own state Question

I support Israel and Mossad in their no nonsene approach to terrorism something we should take heed of in this country. However how we got to that situation is something we could argue all night over.
