Well to be fair - the Scots have had to put up with English jibes about their shockingly bad football team for years. They have had to look on as our media circus built Sven and the boys up to be the best in the world. But today:
England crash out of the World Cup not having played one decent half of football, despite an incredibly favourable group stage and 2nd round draw.
England cricket lose 5-0 to the "mighty" Sri Lanka in the one-dayers.
Meanwhile Scot, Mr Andy Murray stuffs Wimbledon third seed Roddick by three sets to love.
Am I happy - no. Did we have it coming - oh yes. Do I hope Murray wins Wimbledon -yes!!
So - least I ain't bitter!

I hope the Paraguay shirt wearing tw*t gets stuffed at the earliest opportunity.Wimbledon is where English sportsmen traditionally perform poorly, yet they are still regarded as heroes if they reach thelast 32,unlike our football players who are regarded as failures if they do so. |

And who was the best player in an England shirt today? Who looked more athletic, more the genuine article, more at home on the world stage? A bloody Canadian, named Owen Hargreaves - thats who!!
Perhaps we should invade and see who else we can annex!
Seriously though, yes we have decent players - but we are not the best side in the world and realising this might actually make us more savvy and play to a bloody system that suits us, not the opposition!

He needs a bloody hair cute too, gypo. Swearing in public? He must be Scottish. They'll be swapping Pimms and Lemonade for McEwans Export next and strawberries and cream will be battered.

So they should be. Our players are pampered to obscene levels. They have had more than enough time to prepare and had been gifted an easy passage to the Semi Final. They have not been able to produce one single half of anything resembling decent football. As Billy Mac says they should face a firing squad. There are no excuse for yet another dreadful performance.
Good luck to Andy Murray. Tennis for me is not about representing your country it is about yourself.

Never mind his anti-English sentiments, the fact that he refers to himself in the third person makes my piss boil.

I watched the cricket and the football - in different ways they were good sporting spectacles, even if the results were deeply disappointing. I then watched the tennis, and have to say I was very impressed with Murray who played a blinder against the world number 3 and took him apart. He doesn't look like a sportsman - he still looks like a sulky gangly teenager - but he has clearly got huge talent and potential. Good luck to him.
I then watched the tail end of the darts, which I don't really follow, but which can also be quite gripping and entertaining, not least for Sid Waddell's commentary. Phil Taylor v Ray Barneveld in a semi-final in Las Vegas of all places, a game that went right down to the last possible game - superb stuff. Both players were clocking up 100 3-dart averages, were making huge checkouts, and were matching each other throw for throw. There were something like 24 180's in the match - including consecutive ones in the penultimate game, which the commentator said he'd never seen in 30 years of coverage. Fantastic.

soft fade to gster sipping Pimms in a Noel Coward Silk dressing gown as the tune "Mad Dogs and Englishmen" plays hauntingly in the background.

I see Greg as more of a Angela Landsbury esque friend of the stars...'Murder G Wrote' would be a great TV spin off..... It was Freddie Shepherd in the Board Room with the glass decanter.
Noddy could try Columbo, I hear he already has the dirty rain coat

Did you ever notice who was ALWAYS about when the murder was committed ? Yes that's right ........ Jessica Fletcher !
That old bat must've murdered dozens of people over the course - many of whom she knew personally - and yet the incompetent police could never pin anything on her.
Should've gone to "the chair" years ago imo .....

Funny how eveybody's jumped on the hate Andy Murray bandwagon, purely because of what one tabloid reported what the was alleged to have said (about the Paraguay shirt) and he has himself denied saying any such thing.
Mind you, he does have spots, but he can't possibly compete with Stephen Hendry's acne!

The thing is, us English are fed up with having Scottish sporting chances rammed down our throat year in, year out. The arrogant attitude that Murray is gonna win Wimbledon is really annoying. The trouble with the Scots is they can't seem to get over having Alan Wells who was quite good at running and stuff.

We might as well support Sebastien Grosjean if we're going to support Murray, after all its only just over the channel.
Murray is Scottish, so why any English people would support him makes no sense.

Because in tennis terms he is British. Same as the Olympics. Its only really in the world of football and rugby where the UK is broken down further. To be honest, I don't care that much about the tennis - but after the guys name it says GBR - so thats good enough for the majority of people from the UK to get behind him I suppose.

And he allegedly apologised for saying it when he started getting hate mail so I believe he did say it and so deserves all he gets. He is now hoping that England are out of the World Cup that people will watch the tennis more and support him. HAHAHA he can think again as far as I am concerned

This kinda crap only starts when England get knocked out of major tournaments every couple of years ansd start looking for someone to blame ...
99% of Scots don't support England anyways so I don't know why you're so surprised.
Murray's Scottish but, last time I looked, tennis ain't a team sport so it's kinda irrelevent.
If it makes you feel better though .....
