Can anyone else hear the sound of sphincters twitching on the East Coast?

The game should be a little easier for them as Daryl Clare's left Crawley and won't be playing today. I reckon that Scarborough will get a win with fat Boy getting the goals

I hope not.
A win for Crawley Island would put Scarborough in deep deep trouble and the distinction of being the first full time club ever to be relegated from the Conference would be theirs, their whole history (what little there is of it) would be in tatters and we could heap misery on them year after year after year.

I'd agree with that. Their fans must be nervous as hell though.

After last season it's a beautiful situation.
Funny how they "don't like it up em" though, yet they dished it out good and proper last year........."The First Full-Time Team to be Relegated From the Conference".
It sounds even more beautiful to me than it did to them last season!

IF that happens, who's for a statue of Redfearn in the middle of York?

To be honest I don't really care about whether they do or they don't, we are too big a club to be worrying about minnows like that. It's like getting excited about whether Canvey Town will manage to finish 15th or not.
It's just embarrassing to be in the same division as such a piss poor club with no fans, no culture, nothing.

Can't see Boro getting much from their run-in...
21 March - Canvey (H)
25 March - Aldershot (A)
1 April - Tamworth (H)
8 April - Stevenage (A)
15 April - Burton (H)
17 April - Accrington (A)
19 April - Grays (H)
22 April - Cambridge (H)
29 April - Exeter (A)
Shouldn't kick them when they're (almost) down, but the Surfing Seadog site is currently debating who they should have as manager "to get them out of Conference North at the first attempt".
Pickering's Alex Mathie's name has been put forward
Don't know whether to or

Scarborough can achieve a maximum of 56 points this season. That means we need but one point in the rest of this season to guarantee finishing above them.

That means we only need one more point to definately be safe from relegation too.

No. The teams below Scarborough have at least one game in hand. But one more win ought to sort it.

What happens to the new stadium plans at Scarboro' if they go down?
I understand they have the green light to start building - but playing to six men and a dog in Conference North week in week out would suggest a ground share with Whitby Town to be more appropriate.....
Not that I am gloating - how could I with the spectre of the Huntington Graveyard still a distinct possibility for our own club?
On that sobering thought, I do wonder when all this land value/housing nonsense is going to stop. When you drive past the McCain for example, and see what a great little ground it is for this level of football, you do begin to wonder at the damage housing pressure has done to our game. I mean, there are some pretty impressive facilities at Boro - with two good stands, whats the point in knocking all that down and moving a few hundred yards up the road just to build some more crappy, boxy houses? I know there is the argument of having more profit making 24/7 uses at a new ground - but has any club EVER made that work? Or is it just an excuse to destroy a perfectly good ground, chuck up something cheaper and cash in on the land value?
One day you know, some club is going to be heavily relying on its ground land values, just as the housing bubble bursts. I just hope it isn't us! |

You would never get the correct planning, as he would always maintain it was in a false position.

I was thinking exactly that on the 2nd of January. Although those two stands have aged badly in 10 years, it has to be said that The Stadium of Chips is a tidy little ground and a nice balance of modern all seater facilities and covered terracing. It slightly pisses me off that SFC accepted all that money from the FGIT a few years ago and are now looking to rip the ground down.
It pisses me off even more that a certain ex-City chaiman deliberately leaked plans of a stupidly big stand to ensure that we couldn't get in on the gravy train. I wonder why he would have done that............?
