Ok chaps, this weeks task is due in for same time, 11pm Friday. Bit more time this week.
This weeks task is to write a short(ish) article on a made up transfer rumour. You can make it as realistic or as unnrealistic as you want. It could be funny or informative. Choose any team and any player...make a player up if you want. You have to have wrote it yourself and it can't be stolen.
If you want to see an example article for this kind of thing http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/default.stm
Any questions just post them.
Cheers, Josh.

Janes to City.
York City have further bolstered their defence by paying an undisclosed fee for the Darlington defender Alex Janes
York influence
The 17-year-old, who can also play in left midfield, signed a four-year deal today after the clubs agreed a fee thought to be between £5 and £10 for a player who has 10 reserve caps.
'Step down'
"The ambition of this club is the same as mine - to play at the very top in Non-league," added Janes, who was under contract with Darlo until sometime or another "Personally, I feel I have taken a step down coming to York." The Minstermen recently signed defensive duo James Dudgeon and Mark Hotte.

SEADOGS SIGN SOUTHALL
In what could possibly be the most important in seaside football history, Former Everton keeper Neville Southall has moved to the east cost to help struggling Scarborough. The shock was annonced this morning in a press conference to fans. It is said that the locals are delighted that such an aged legend is on board. This miraculous signing comes weeks after the Seadogs lost defender Mark Hotte to local rivals York.
Earlier today, we managed to get a word with Neville. He is glad to be playing football again and is fully fit apart from an overly large gut. He atrributes this to bad pollution on a recent trip to the Ukraine.
We will bring you more on this story next weekk when Southall staggers back to training for the first time.

any chance of a direct quote? No authenticity means no confirmation that this is true. Bloody rumours.

Ron Jeremy. Rob's by far the best, not because he has my name in it but because he's used all the basic knowledge which his English teacher has taught him over the past 2 years at GCSE level. The first sentence is a general summarisation of what has happened. he involves direct quotes and 'sensational' sub-headlines which blow it out of proportion to make the reader sit up and take notice. No doubt Tom B will win though.
I don't even know why i care, ur all gay lawl.

Di Franchesci signs for City.
York City today announced the signing of Italian forward Cristian Di Franchesci on a free transfer.
Di Franchesci, who has also played for Como and San Marino, has been signed for no fee, as he was out of contract, after being released by Serie C club San Marino.
Di Franchesci gave a passionate interview today whilst speaking to The Evnging Press.
When asked what made him choose york City over a host of other clubs, he replied, in broken English:
'I'm sure you can imagine, it's an unimaginable honour to live in this city. I loved this city as soon as I walked inside the walls, which I must say are very good in their own way.'
'Everyone I have met so far associated with club, have been fantastic. One David Helsdon gave me a good welcome, as he seems to be on the same level with me.'
On moving away from Italy, he replied:
'I don't wish to discuss it. That's a chapter, the last chapter of the twentieth, twentieth, twenty-first century that most of me would rather forget. The last chapter of the twentieth century. This is the twenty-first century.'
'Obviously, I'd rather play in front of a full house rather than an empty crowd. York is a great club, and it's been my home for years, even though I have been living in San Marino'
Di Franchesci will hopefully make his debut against Frickley in just over a weeks time. |

Williams set to sign for City
York City are expected to sign 21 year old Welsh Defender Dafyd Williams from Welsh amateur side Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch Rovers in a record 2k deal.
It sees the 21 year old who's height would be surely the main reason for the purchase as he stands 6ft 6, join English Conference side York whose last season's league placing leave a lot to be desired.
The Welshman has two Under 19's caps and both of these were earned against Armenia which Armenia won 3-0 and 2-0 respectivley.
On the matter Williams said
It's a big step up for me, the quality of these players is amazing compared to the Welsh league which Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch Rovers bossed for 4 seasons
Another reason for York gaining his siganture was their name.
oh aye, York City name is very short compared to my previous club which caused plenty of trouble on my Tax return. Imagine putting that in your place of employment!
Williams is expected to start in the pre-season friendly against Frickley. |

Where’s Asprilla gone? was the question on the lips of the optimists in the longhurst on that glorious night in September 2002 when super sub Giant Johnny Parkin scored the only goal (in the darlo net) in a long ball contest at Bootham Crescent. Finally that question is about to be answered:
When John Batchelor took over the running of the club in spring 2002 he wanted to put the club on the map. Starting with the name and the badge he then set out to change the look of the squad. Big names were needed to justify the name change and make the club big in America (especially has beens who were otherwise destined for MLS) Asprilla was perfect. Though Mr Batchelor did have to hold a gun to Il Doolio’s head whilst he negotiated with the colombian’s drug baron agent on the phone, not in a hostage situation, but in order to force the then city boss to face his fear for any players with flair and stop him putting the phone down and phoning up grimsby town to ask if they had any lads over 6’2” to play central defence/midfield/up front. You may be thinking why it has taken three years for him to finally arrive at the club. Well in a worldwide exclusive (one of many in just the last few months; among: “The contents of Barry Parker’s lunchbox” and “The sickening theft of white lightning from the Co-op in Tang Hall”) we can tell you that he had already shaken hands with George Reynolds’ manager at Darlington and when asked for his reasons for going into hiding on a polynesian atoll for the last 36 months he cited fear as his main justification:
“In Colombia, if you don’t honour a gentlemen’s agreement you get kneecapped- if you are lucky.
I’d heard, though, that the English gangs, which are so fearsome they do not even need to
flee from the city centres into the country- well that must be the case, why else would they be called
‘Townies’? I didn’t want to think of what their Darlington contingent could have done unto me- therefore I decided to go into hiding until my contract up there ran out, preserving my knees (on and off the pitch) for when I come to the fair city of york where I hope to play very well”
When our guest reporter asked: “Don’t you think you’re a bit of a tit not training for three entire seasons and then expecting to come back at the ripe old age of 39 to get first team football in a league as physical as the conference when you’re fitness is absolutely shot?”
Mr Asprilla’s response was: “Well no fitness didn’t stop Paul Groves getting games and his wages did it?
Not even our guest reporter, the most outspoken man in North Yorkshire (do you need any more clues To whom he is?), had an answer to that.
