Some possible signings Smile

Antohny Williams (Ex Hartlepool keeper just being released by Grimsby)

Tyrone Thompson (Scarborough wont be able to afford his wages next season)

Charlie Griffin (Mickey Mouse United are now relegated to Confrence North or south i dunno, but he aint with them anymore)

David McGurk (Was a solid loanee, if only him and Maloney had been here at same time)

Jon Maloney (A must)

Justin Walker (A good loanee he was, would be welcome back)

Daniel Webb (Cambridge striker who i think is out of contract)

Chris Senior (Scarborough cant afford to keep him)

Basicaly we need players that do actually have a record of trying, Shaun Smith was apparantly a right lazy so and so at Hull and Paul Robinson managed to get from promosing premiership starlet to confrence loser in a matter of 6 or 7 seasons due to his laziness, McEwan needs to be very careful on who he buys and not making the same stupid mistakes as Chris Brass did. Oh and Amos, Ben Jackson was useless and i dont think we will be getting him Wink

I don't want to fill the Close Season News thread full of posts and if I had moderating ability I would use it to lock it until I wanted to edit it, but I can't so I'm gonig to start a new thread here.

Billy has stated his interest in signing him along with Maloney. I feel he COULD become a decent player, he has the footballing brain and legs and does well to get into position. He creates chances for himself very well but at the moment his finishing lets him down, I feel he could do a decent job for us next season and he certainly improved towards the end of the season. If the crowd get behind him like I feel they should pre-season and he bags a couple I think he will be well set up to score a few for us next season, a talent for the future if he keeps determined, I really hope he can prove the few idiots in the crowd here wrong. At 19 I would say a decent enough signing.

You can delete the Ben Jackson thread now.

Sorry but NO Ben Jackson wasnt good enough, he never scored, missed sitter after sitter and just like Offioing, Crowe, Dove and Newby was a failure, ok he has potential but he isnt good enough for us, we arent going to be flying the confrence with him are we Rolling Eyes

Duane Darby has been transfer listed by Shewsbury, hes 32 now but has a record of 148 goals in 370 games so I wouldn't call him goal shy.

If scum couldn't afford thompsons wages, there is not way we could.

Griffin will not come here, there are several league clubs interested in him, (darlo is one i think) and t league one club (wycombe or wallsall, can't remember which) have just had him on trial.

Although i'd like to see him here, he won't be arriving anytime soon.

Thats because next season the Boro wages will be based on appearance fees and bonuses.

It will be Walsall as Wycombe are in league 2. I don't think many players from down south would want to move up here to play for us. We need to look around for northern players.

Winston you say Jackson is useless. Tripe.

The poor chap ran his socks off, and I thought did try, he comes to a club struggling at the wrong end of the Conference probably expected by you to stick a hat trick past every team. However with only a game or so under him the fans got on his back, anything shouted about Jackson seemed to be negative. How is shouting all sorts of insults at him going to help him score goals for us?. No wonder he couldn't score.

Poor fella, I would like to see him come back and prove to people that he can do a job for us.

Some people can perform with that pressure as they are just determined to prove the fans wrong, unfortunatly he was not one of them, but the number of chances he created agaisnt Dagenham was excellent and was unlucky not to score before the sitter he missed. Everyone shouted at him when he got a decent shot on target when it was really hard to get the shot in, that is what really annoyed me. He was excellent against Farnborough and if you look at the header where he hit the bar, how well he did to even get a head on it, he has a really high jump.

A good striker is a striker that scores goals Smile

Moving on Darlington have released 10 players, with Ian Clark being one of them. Also Curtis Fleming is released, however his wages maybe a stumbling block Rolling Eyes There are some good players though worth looking at, but we must be careful NOT to get another Shaun Smith or Mitch Ward, i would like to see a policy of no players over 30 joining our club unless they can really benefit the team, because players over 30 tend to be the worst for laziness when they join us Mad

On the subject of over 30's I wouldn't mind seeing any of them if they used to play in the Premiership ala like Beagrie or Redfearn but not any who eg Groves and Smith who didn't play at that level, it is a huge difference in quality between them

(btw decent post, not wasted)

Just searched around a bit and Southport have a goal keeper called Steve Dickinson, hes 28 and used to play for Guiseley, thats all I found on him.

He is the only Dickinson that I could find who plays goal keeper. Would seem like a good buy, I'm presuming hes first choice at Southport and they have done well this season.

They've been released from Darlo for a reason, that reason being they're not league standard, if we want to get back into League Football we want to be signing players of league quality, not people who couldn't make the grade. Although if we could sign Bobby Petta that would be awesome, if someone could afford his thousands of pounds a week wages, that is.

So Janesy which players are worth getting from Darlington, you train with them everyday nearly and watch them nearly every week Rolling Eyes
I think we have to be careful with handing out contracts, maybe give new players 1 month and if they dont pull their weight their back on the road Confused

Yet you suggest we sign Ian Clark? Chris Hughes is the only one out of the crop of players gone who would be worth signing, although Bobby Petta would be class, we can't afford his wages.

I better post this in here to avoid another AD rant.

My sources tell me that former Wimbledon striker Efan Ekoko and his wife were spotted taking a tour at BC yesterday. I've also heard that our pre-season friendly’s will be against Derby, Leeds and Newcastle (or an XI from those clubs).

That's funny, the same source told me he was ex Sheff Wed and was called Shefki Kuqi. Efan Ekoku was ledge at Norwich though. Cheeky Dicko.
