Have some posts gone astray from earlier today? I made contributions to several threads this morning and again around lunchtime and, looking now, they seem to have gone?

Same here, didn't seem to be anything wrong with the thread either.

Me too. All my witty, intelligent comments from today, gone in a flash.

Something's amiss, all this silence makes me think there's a problem.

Laurence, do you have a press conference arranged to tell us about the problems in hand?

I would imagine it was some sort of server blip and nothing to worry about.
I will post a reply here when I get one. |

It did arrive, but is now missing from my inbox.
But, as far as I remember, the general gist was: "Mike Grant dances like a drunk uncle at weddings"

(But I do dance better than that, they don't call me John Revolting for nothing! )

It was server move.
The downtime was so small that no-one noticed the site was down, but in order to move from one server to another, a full backup must be made, and then restored to a new server. When the data has migrated the servers can then be switched, but of course you lose data that was saved since the backup started. |

All very well, but they should have given our admin enough notice to shut the site down for the duration, so data is not lost like this.
At the very least, downtimes should be timed to co-incide with Phil returning from the pub at midnight!
