Yorkie Bras (2)8 : (0)0 Red&Blue
A severely understrength Red&Blue were put to the sword by a well organised Yorkie Bras team in an encounter that was at times fractious.
Red&Blue kicked off with only 10 men for the second match running and within 5 minutes were 1 down as their defence parted like the Red Sea. No sooner had they got up to a full team when a very late tackle on their No.9 saw him take no further part in the game. The man advantage really told and from then on there was only one team in it.
The 'Bar's second goal came from a penalty after Woody Wilson was adjudged to have pushed during corner. Perhaps a bit harsh and despite the 'keeeper getting a glove on the ball, that was 2-0.
With a man short now, Red&Blue were hitting high hopefull balls upfront and looking for mistakes. Indeed it could have been 2-1 at half-time had City Reject put away a reasonable chance after a mix-up between the goalie and one his defenders. The ball missed the near post but that was a close Red&Blue went to scoring in the first half.
The 'Bar's were being denied by some excellent 'keeping and perhaps 2-0 flattered Red&Blue at half-time. A couple of goal line clearances, 3 good saves and 3-4 shots that curled just past the post meant that it was only time before the 'Bars found their range.
Second half and the 'Bars started as they finished the first, on top but now had fresh legs on and this made a difference. The 10 Red&Blue players who started were beginning to tire and gaps were appearing and on around 60 minutes, the Bar's finally got their 3rd goal. Quickly the 4th goal went in and it was looking like double figures with the Bar's switching players routinely.
Not sure who scored what goals but remember one of the best ones being Alex Beddingham's decent turn and shot. Kroy was influential down the right against a rather aged left-back who he regularly skinned and setup goals for others. James Richardson formed a solid in defensive partnership with Will Thornton but in fairness they did not have great deal to do.
There was a chance of a consolation with 5 minutes to go as Dicko managed to get his foot around a bouncing through ball. The shot hit the bar and that apart from 3 corner was Red&Blue's total threat on goal in the second period.
Anyhow 8:0 was the final score though one goal, a header from a corner was slightly dubious as I am convinced it went out of play befor curling back in. Goalie and defence waited for the whistle, it never came and a Bar's attacker planted a very good header into the net.
Extremely well refereed but quite frankly one or two players (on both sides) should take a long look at themselves because at times they made the match rather unpleasant. We should also consider ourselves fortunate that a Conference level referee is willing to give up his Saturday morning and I think a bit more respect is called for.
Overall a rather one-sided game and generally played in a reasonable spirit between 2 competitive teams. Unfortunately the end of the match rather spoit by the idiot who came over to mouth off at Red&Blue after the final whistle. According to this numpty, we were beaten 8:0 because we previously boasted we'll give the Bra's a good stuffing though he failed to mention that his late tackle that made us play with 10 men for 80 minutes.
Finally well done to all the forum members (mentioned above) of the 'Bars as they thoroughly deserved to win.

I think you said 8-0 was a lucky score Tim, did you say it should have been 17 nil?
Well done to both sides anyway, at least it was eventful and had goals.
Now what was the comment about "wonderbras" I heard in the SC today?

Official Red and Blue FC Match Report
16/10/04
By Tim Wills & Kingmouse
Yorkie Bars 8-0 Red and Blue FC
Stockdale
T.Oxley (3)
Copley
??? o.g
Bedingham
Herpin
A severely under strength Red & Blue were put to the sword by a well organised Yorkie Bars team in an encounter that was at times fractious.
Red & Blue kicked off with only 10 men for the second match running and within 5 minutes were 1 down as their defence parted like the Red Sea. No sooner had they got up to a full team when a very late tackle on Bobby D saw him take no further part in the game. The man advantage really told and from then on there was only one team in it.
The Bars second goal came from a penalty after Woody Wilson was dubiously adjudged to have pushed an opposition player during corner. Perhaps a bit harsh and despite Red & Blue’s keeper Minister of Silly Walks getting a glove on the ball, he was un able to turn it round the post.
With a man short, Red & Blue were hitting high hopeful balls upfront looking for mistakes from the Bars experienced backline. Indeed it could have been 2-1 at half-time had city_reject put the ball in after rounding the keeper and lunging defender, but alas the angle was to tight and the only netting found was the side of the goal. The spurned opportunity at the near post was as close as Red & Blue FC went in the first half.
During the first half the Bars were being denied by some excellent 'keeping and perhaps 2-0 flattered Red & Blue by this point. A couple of goal line clearances, 3 good saves and 3-4 shots that curled just past the post meant that it was only time before the Yorkie Bars found their range.
Second half and the Bars started as they finished the first, on top but now had fresh legs on and this made a difference. There was a chance of a consolation with 5 minutes to go as dicko.35 managed to get his foot around a bouncing through ball. The shot hit the bar, that apart from three corners was Red & Blue's total threat on goal in the second period.
8-0 was the final score though one goal, a header from a corner was slightly dubious as incensed forum players were convinced it went out of play before curling back in. Goalie and defence waited for the whistle, it never came and a Bars attacker planted a very good header from the back post and into the net.
Team Line-ups
Red and Blue FC - Minster of Silly Walks, DMN, Tim Wills, Woody Wilson, Setori's Two Left Feet, tommihird, Kingmouse, dicko.35, mossy, Bobby D, city_reject.
Yorkie Bars – Godwin, Copley, B.Oxley, Thornton, Richardson, George, T.Oxley, C.Sutherland, Moran, Stockdale, R.Sutherland.
Substitutes; Bedingham, Herpin, Dundas, Holbrook.
Game Summary
Overall a rather one-sided game and generally played in a reasonable spirit between two competitive teams. The Yorkie Bars wealth of experience and their rolling substitutions eventually overwhelmed the weary forum team.
Red & Blue FC’s Official MoTM
A close choice between goal keeper Minster of Silly Walks and centre back Woody Wilson but the numerous athletic saves and a some good 1-on-1 blocks clinches it for Minister of Silly Walks. |
