Not sure DL, but I would say it is unlikely if only because it's on the East Coast Main Line and a lot will be going by train. |

The trains seem to be fecked that weekend - GNER reckon it'll take 5 hours 10 minutes to get back with 3 changes.

Some chimp on the GNER ticket line told me that the cheapo tickets might be released today, but that still doesn't explain why the timetable says you have to change 3 times (including via Kings Cross) to get back to York........ |

LATEST UPDATE:
Phoned GNER ticket line and they say that the timetable and tickets have not been released because they are waiting for Network Rail to confirm engineering work on that weekend and, until then, they can't release any info or book any tickets because NR have to give them permission to use the track.
It could be today, it could be in a week - "keep trying" (I was told) |

I'm pretty sure there's engineering works that weekend.

She told me that there is definitely engineering work but they haven't told GNER what and where it's going to be and how the work will affect their services. Hopefully it will be between Stevenage and London so the beers trains from York will arrive on time!

UPDATE:
Phoned again at 6.50pm and was told that the timetable and ticket information will be released next THURSDAY (16th Dec).
However, I would keep my eyes peeled if I were you because they might release it sooner, you never know. |

LATEST UPDATE:
Today the GNER ticket adviser told me that all timetable information and, therefore, cheap rail tickets, will be released on MONDAY at 10am.
I won't hold my breath, but it has to happen some time - and if I don't get a cheap ticket after all this faffing about I will be well hacked off I tell thee!

As could have been predicted, the promise of MONDAY at 10am was BOLLOCKS as GNER are obviously a bunch of incomptents (as are Network Rail who are also messing passengers about) so sadly no tickets have been released yet and the current plank I spoke to simply said "10am? I don't know who told you that, you're the 3rd person who I've spoken to who said that, just keep trying every few days".
All this fuss, I only want a sodding train ticket! |

FINALLY!
Cheapest tickets currently available are Apex Returns costing 37 pounds. However, because of weekend engineering work, there is a bus replacement service between Peterborough and Stevenage which is an hour and a half (bringing the journey time each way to 3 hours) and so this represents pretty poor value. Even if it was 19 as hoped, you'd be a fool to take it because of the prospect of 3 hours on a packed replacement bus, which would be absolute hell.
My advice is to go on the Travel Club, or the York Minstermen coach if that option is available.
Which bring us back to DL's original question!!!!!!! |

It really pizzes you off when trying to book train tickets for away games. About 1 in 10 you can book straight away and the rest of the time you have to try ringing up every few days for about 6 weeks.
Have an offer of watching dirty leeds on the fa cup trip to brum travelling on the train so might be tempted to give the City away trip a miss for once.

In view of the train problems, York Minstermen are planning to run a coach to Stevenage.
Whether or not it runs depends on people actually booking (and paying for) a seat.
We've got 3 booked so far, so we need another 30 or so to ensure it runs.
It'll cost £15 if you're a YMM member, £18 if you're not.
planned departure time is 8:00am but that may change.
pm me if you want to book |

We only need another 7 or 8 bookings, and about 6 provisional bookings to be confirmed to be certain of running this trip.
I appreciate people have good reasons for delaying a decision (or simply not wanting to go), but the sooner you're able to let us know, the sooner we can say with certainty that we're running the trip. |

Anybody for the train?
I know a few who are booked on various departures. I believe we are due to arrive at Stevenage at 12.20 (someone correct me if I'm wrong), so a few drinks in the town centre and then up to their club? |

Most of the local "die hards" who I know, who have spent most of the beginning of the season travelling up and down on the ECML,are still planning to go by train.
UKP is right,it may take longer this particular weekend, but it doesn't really matter as the time difference isn't that great and the service is frequent enough to give a reasonable choice of departure/arrival times at both ends.
Those who do travel by train are probably lucky because most of the longer trips were out of the way before the "engineering works" season fully kicked in.Hopefully then there won't be much effect in the away games left. |

You can travel on the bus as long as you promise to speak in English and not in that language - whatever it is!

We're still short of sufficient people to run the trip to Stevenage.
We're going to have to make tomorrow (Monday) the deadline, so pm me by tomorrow evening if you want to go. |

Come on every one, come on the minstermen coach to Stevanage all the proffit goes to the supporters trust and the trains are rubbish that day. I know this is a pretty much a waste of time but its worth a try!

Update:
According to Stevenage fans & a Stevenage website, the information on this site, the York City programme and on Footballgroundguide that away fans have the option of standing is no longer applicable.
The only option City fans have are seats priced at £13 (£10 Concessions). |

A couple of bookings came in, but sadly not enough to make the trip viable - if we'd run as it stood, we'd have lost the thick end of £200, which we obviously can't afford to do.
Apologies to everyone who's booked - we'll get your cash back to you asap.
For some of the shorter trips we've got coming up, we're going to consider running a minibus - volunteer drivers more than welcome! - which would at least mean we could run these trips where we get 12 or 15 people wanting to come.
let me know... |
