Why don't you promote travel with the York Minstermen instead? Profits will go to the Trust not some train company.

We can get down there earlier and get in pub quicker

I'd have thought that's probably because of the 18 age limit on YMM coaches and the fact that there's a few who travel with the forum group who are a few years younger than that. There's always going to be some who, for whatever reason, prefer the train, though it's good to have more options this season.

Give him a hard time - lol

Yes because you can drink on the train (cant drink on the YMM coach), will have less travelling time than going on the coach, the train has more leg room and longer in the pub (dependant on train times).

Why don't both get together and look at running a "special" for all City fans?

Not sure about that - there's never enough leg room for me (then again I suppose I am tall ) but if you sit at a table it's not a problem.
Of course the important thing is not how you get there, just hopefully being able to cheer on the lads to a few more away wins than last season!

Cheap tickets are usually available for all ages about 10 weeks prior to travel.
The sooner you get them the cheaper it can be and you will have a better choice of trains.
With all the long trips this season this could make it really quite reasonably priced to be able to get to many of the games especially the ones via London, which takes 2 hours.
Lets see if we can get a good turnout on the train, cos I've met many different fans and had a good laugh thrown in,whilst travelling by rail.
Acomb Red,keep up the good work with the YY train trips! |

Sounds like you're going to be doing a lot of drinking for someone underage.

And that's precisely why the YMM is an over-18s coach, because you will only embarrass yourself and everyone else if we have a load of kids getting into a state.

You don't go to Oaklands by any chance do you?

I'm sure with a load of loudmouth teens under the illegal influence of alcohol it will be great "fun" on the train for the other passengers!

| A few corrections: This is not "YY travel", Kingmouse is over 18 so is not underage, and anyone acting in the way Phil describes (which hopefully wont happen anyway) would probably not be given tickets in future. |

Nice one Mouse!
And for people like me it is hard enough to get the money to go on the train since I have to get from Leeds as well meaing to go on the YMM coach it would cost me:
£25 for the coach
£5 train to York
£5 to get in
so at least £35 + whatever I need to eat etc...meanig it will be up around £40 can get very expensive as for the train it is £12 + £5 + £5 + other leaving it to just over £25 for the day meaning I can save about £15 so I can come more times - Well thats my excuse!

It's hardly embarrassing not knowing the minutiae of your life David. I'm afraid I don't take the kind of interest in you that you do in me, please forgive me.
I came to the conclusion that, as you are one of the main members of Young Yorkies, you were a child. Perhaps you should reconsider your position now you have reached the age of maturity? After all, isn't it "embarrassing" for a adult man to be hanging round with minors?

The coach is £21 for non-members - are you 18 yet? If not, kingmouse is 18, he could be your guardian!
The train to York might not be necessary if you can get to a place on route. Do you have parents or friends who can drop you somewhere?
So £35 is way over the top. I make it £26!
Anyway, if you don't have much money then you don't want to spend it all on alcohol on the train..........

Especially when you're 14 or whatever. I know someone who was in the year above me at school who has a stomach ulcer as a result of drinking at that age.

Ok firstly, No I'm not 18 I am 15
I'm not going all the way from Leeds to Kings X on my own, I'll get totally bored and then probably get lost. Friends, not anyone who would come with me, I think I'm the only York supporting person my age in a 10 mile radius! As for parents, they hate football they won't get up at 5 in morning to take me somewhere I can get a match.
As for the last bit, that is budgeted for
+ Kingmouse is off by train anyway isn't he?

I always do at least some research on the people I' am speaking with, I find it helps. You could have found out my DOB by looking in the YorkMM records. It's a bit like the whole ongoing El Pats incident, you find out about him to see if you can find any major floors or vices, then you exploit them.
The main reason why I' am on this section of the forum is because I' am a moderator of YY. If it is so "embarrassing" for an adult to be 'hanging around with minors' then why do you insist in posting here, after all Phil you despise youngsters.

On the contrary, the information was passed on to me by someone else. Why would I want to find out your date of birth? Why would I be interested?

I post here because you obviously need guidance! Or should I say, to correct some of the nonsense posted here - in this case about coach travel.
I assume you will be resigning as a moderator now you don't qualify for this part of the forum?

Er.......I think we've established that it's about the same price haven't we?
The train certainly isn't cheaper, but the motivation for some people to go on the train rather than a coach is pretty clear.

£21 coach + £5 + £5 is £31
£12 train + £5 + £5 is £21

Can you read? Why do you need £5 to get to York when a coach would pick you up on route?
It has to be said though that £12 from York to Aldershot including underground changes is extremely good value.

The YMM have a policy that, if a convenient meeting point is pre-arranged so the driver can be given notice and it doesn't cause a delay, then it's an option.
For example, one person has requested a pick up at Trowell services near Sheffield, which is easy to accommodate.
