Pure genius. In fact, and I've thought about this a lot, I can think of no better tune for the Minstermen to run out on to the pitch to.

Where's Mike Brown when you need him?

A band called Snuff did a punk version of it a few years back, very good it was too.

I assume you are a TD fan. If so do you have any recommendations for a newbie from their 30-odd year history?

Certainly.

Try to stick to fairly early stuff, as they went a bit sh*t from the mid 80s onwards (e.g. "Tyger" and "Le Parc").

"Phaedra" or "Rubycon" are classics.

I would be happy to lend you a few as a taster - let me know when you are next at BC and I'll furnish you with a few to copy.

Cheers mate!

I guessed that early would be best, but then Kraftwerk's 2003 Tour De France soundtrack is my favourite from that bunch of Electro-Krauts.

I'll have a rummage around on eDonkey and see what I can turn up on the two you suggested.

If I like them I can always buy them.* Wink

*No, seriously, that's actually what I do!

TOTALLY forgot the best EVER song I've heard played at a Footie match which was a few seasons back at Partick Thistle Vs Stirling Albion .....

The "BANANA SPLITS" theme ! Very Happy

Half-time in aforementioned game the PA guy decided to play this tune just before the teams ran out for the second-half and {I kid you not !} virtually EVERYONE in the stadium was dancing and singing along to it - really got an atmosphere going in what, to that point, was a pretty dull game ........

It REALLY works - trust me ! Wink

Dallas (also currently my mobile ringtone Embarassed )
Doctor Who
Robinson Crusoe (1960s version German? Dutch?)

With honourable mentions for Roobarb & Custard and Van der Valk.

Have to agree with MacPhail about the benefits of the Banana Splits.

Czech, I think. I agree, it was wonderful, as were Dr Who & Roobarb and Custard. Magic Roundabout wasn't bad.

Pah!

I bet you were one of the people that propelled it to the top of the charts in 1972.

I bought all my Tangerine Dream CDs on ebay, you can get some good bargains if you have the patience to wade through the mass. I actually printed off a discography in order to find the right stuff - a lot of their stuff, as you know, is film soundtrack and I'm not much of a fan of that so I tried to pick out the actual studio albums. There's bloody loads.

Of course I also forgot to mention "White Eagle" the album with the song of the same name on it - it was the theme of a 1980s East German detective show.

Agree about Kraftwerk. Have you heard the album "Communication" by Karl Bartos released last year? Fantastiche.

Very Happy

Indeed. La Forme is an awesome piece of music.

I'll check out "Communication".

Cheers!

Yes they can as long as they don't have Team Varta splashed all over them.
