As part of my dissertation i am studying why people support the football teams that they do. So i could really do with your help if you could visit my site and tell me mainly why you support York City FC and a little on your national support that would be great.

Cheers guys,

York, Eastern Europe or Lancaster? Please make up your mind.

What country were you born in?
What nationality are you?

Erm - aren't they the same?

Also, not being English I resent all the 'how patriotic to the flag are you?' stuff. I said at the start I wasn't English, so how could I be insulted when people such as myself diss England!!!

Shame you lot bombed out of Euro 2k4. Who won? Oh yes, GREECE

HELLA HELLA HELLA

I've never felt so Greek in my life Very Happy

Not necessarily. Cliff Richard was born in India. I've never seen him anywhere near a curry. Smile

Also filled in and also from an ex-Lancaster boy.

Do I feel a York City 'Sugarhouse' reunion event coming on?

(Two tickets sold could still be a bigger number then the old thursday night bash)

F**k that, I hated the Sugarhouse.

The Empire and The Carleton, now they were good venues!

That's the trouble with the youth of today - they didn't go to Lancaster until after the Sugar House opened, and don't appreciate the titanic struggles waged by their predecessors to get a half-decent venue.

Wankers.

To be honest I always preferred the Carpenter's Arms. Rough as feck and twice as ugly, but at least I was usually the only student in there. Then there was that one down by the docks where you could still get a pint of bitter for 25p as late as 1981.

Ahhh tuesdays at 'The Carleton' - pretending it was your birthday (again) so that you could have your photo taken with your mates and claim your free bottle of 'bubbly' - which you then sprayed all over your pals F1 podium stylee.

The Empire only ran twice during my years - went to both - didn't really like either.

The Sugarhouse (aka Shagger) ran some decent nights. Feel was OK for the dance theng - also saw some good (and not so good) Britpop bands down there. Including Yorks finest 'Shed 7'.

As a compromise what about that dive in Lancaster town centre - 'Brooks'.

Sincerest thanks Frank, because without venues like the Sugarhouse and Brooks I would never have moved to live in Morecambe!

Brooks was well rough, a mate of mine received a hearty slapping from a couple of local youths outside it one night.

The dodgier the better though - Crystal Ts was ace!

Thanks so much everyone who has filled it in. I really didn't expect to get so a quick response you York City fans are awesome. And also thanks to the Lancaster crew didn't realise so many York fans went/go to Lancaster.

Cheers,

Ben

by the way the sugarhouse is ok, but the Carlton is the only club you'll ever need - an ex-bingo hall, smelling like sick and looking not much better that plays the worst cheesy music it forces you to get obscenely drunk and have and have one of the best nights of your life.

I've had some of the best nights of my life in The Carleton.

Why can't it be 1996 again? Why?

Seeing as this has turned (been hijacked) into a Lancaster thread which was the best college.

I was Fylde, also liked Grizedale and Furness on a sunday when ours was shut. Sometimes went to Bowland as had a few mates there - other than that they were s***e.......

.....discuss.

the best pub has to be pj o'briens. it is an irish pub back in adelaide. the birds i picked up in there. a couple nights before i left oz i was in there and managed to get the girl i wanted, and her friend...at once. ideal.
