 |
|
Just seeing if an Atilla the Stockbroker gig would interest people at the Social. He's agreed to do a free gig in the Autumn when Brighton are playing in Yorkshire or the North East. He is Brighton's FC's poet in residence, prominent member of their Supporter's Trust and is very involved in that club's fight for survival.
Not sure quite how to describe his act. Comedian/punk poet/musician. His live shows are fantastic entertainment though. http://www.attilathestockbroker.com/ if you want to know more.
He will not be requiring payment for this gig but if there is interest and the gig goes ahead, I think that a small token of appreciation would be in order and my idea would be a donation to the Brighton Supporter's Trust. Just 100 people paying £5.00 = £500 plus bar profits so we could afford a donation of £150 and still have a very profitable evening.

Sounds like a good idea Tim.

The Thompson family would be in attendance for that one and depending what else is on elsewhere I could probably get another 10-20 of Yorks existing punks along.

Sounds like the sort of gig Dynamo Kebab would like
It is a great idea Tim, anything that can attract a new audience to the SC must be worth looking into. I hope that a few more say yes to this.

I'd be up for it. I caught him 3 times at Glastonbury, plus the end of a fourth set.
Will he be bringing Otway as well? |

An excellent idea! Like many City fans, I'd be up for it, but the key thing is that a gig like this will bring people (and more importantly their money) into the Social Club that would never otherwise park their bums on our seats.
As an aside, I remember getting involved in a drunken argument with the gentleman in question after a gig in Leeds many years ago.
I'll have to try and remember what the feck it was about in time for Round 2

I'd be there. First saw Attila with Otway a while back, in Hambleton.

Indeed it was - a difference of opinion about strategy and tactics, and who was redder in the face, but we maintained general unity around the question of whose round it was.
His.

His current set includes a song about Chelsea entitled "Abramovich's Donkey Sanctuary". Pretty hilarious, that one!
Any idea on the possible date, yet? |

Friday 29th October is the most likely date.
However we have a cup fixture that weekend so if we are given an away fixture that's a long distance to travel, it might put people off from going out the night before. On the other hand, this is York, home of such party animals as A_B, Angus and Daley so a 400 mile round trip the following day is nothing to them.

Sooner you confirm the date the better, and ticket price then I can let my mates know.
