Match Report:

An impressive performance actually. We got off to the best possible start when Paul Groves headed home a Darren Dunning corner from close range.

We were all over them for the first 15 minutes but then they started to get back into the game. a shocking piece of defending left Wednesday 2 on 1 and just passed it round the keeper for Chris Brunt to score from 3 yards. City were on the back foot for most of the game since then and Wednesday won the game after Paul Crichton saved well but Lee Peacock fired home the winner from close range.

City did have there chances and Nogan wriggled out of a challenge and slotted the ball past Wednesday keeper David Lucas but a Sheffield defender cleared brilliantly off the line. Jonny Rowan came on for Andy Bishop and made an instant impression turning two of the Wednesday defenders inside out. He also had a shot well saved by the Wednesday keeper after a blistering shot from 20 yards was jsut tipped round the post.

Gary Pearson and Chris Brass went off injured in the first half but neither looked too serious.

Notable Performances:

Paul Crichton - Impressive in net, can't be blamed for the goals
Chris Clarke - Brilliant, a tall and strong defender who played brilliantly.
Jonny Rowan - Looked fired up and played a really good game. Worth keeping if we haven't signed him already.
Lee Nogan - Played great passes and was very unlucky not to score

Attendance - 2648 (approx 1800 away)

I got there late so it took me till half time to work out who everyone was. From what I could tell Robinson looked decent, I would have liked to see more of Rowan, he looks promising but I didn't think he got involved all that much. Although I may have been mistaking him for someone else as by the end half the team had no numbers! I agree Clarke looks good, we can certainly do with the height! Where do they get all these short players from? Ashcroft, Arthur, Law, Coad....do they exclude you from the academy if you're over 4ft tall?

Oh Yes and Laurence wins the Arriva Trains Award for Punctuality as he arrived late and missed the first goal!

Thats surprising since Robinson didn't even play!

Jonny Rowan got really involved as well and was one of the best players on the pitch when hecame on.
