Junior Minstermen Founded
After weeks of conversation on msn the Junior Minstermen has now be officially founded.
The Junior Minstermen has been set up to promote young fans to be actively involved with York City, to do this the JMM aim to build a young fan base by arranging fund raising events, advertising the club within local schools and offering its members the chance to receive discounts on various activities.
Benefits for JMM Members
• A laminated membership card.
• A discount of £1 per trip to members to away days on the train. If demand is high for tickets members are guaranteed reservations on advanced bookings. Members pay £1 less than non-members meaning members that go to more than 5 away games a season make their money back (PM acombred for more details).
• Members pay only £1 for Friday and Tuesday night football through out the Summer Holidays, (this applies on 14 Fridays and Tuesday's from 16 July to 27 August inclusive).
• Members get 50p of every Friday and Sunday night football at a discounted rate of £1.50.
• Members have the chance to attend youth orientated events organized by the group, for more information click here.
• York Minstermen will offer free membership to JMM members Under 18s, the Junior Minstermen would advise all our older members to become involved with the York Minstermen.
The Who’s Who of the JMM
David Barton (kingmouse)– David is the group’s secretary, treasurer and event co-ordinator.
Rob Amos (yorkcity4eva)– Rob came up with the original JMM concept. Rob co-organises the JMM’s recruitment drive with Mike (footyfan)
Mike Wright (footyfan)– Mike co-organises the JMM’s recruitment drive with Rob (yorkcity4eva) and provides possible event activities on behalf of the JMM.
James MacQuarrie (Woody Wilson)– James is the JMM’s communication/media relations officer, his role is to make all public communications on behalf of the JMM.
As the Junior Minstermen has been set up for young fans we have decided to appoint a young up-and-coming York City player as our ‘Honorary President’.
Honorary President – Adam Arthur
Thanks must go to Adam for agreeing to devote some of his time to show his support to the JMM, we all wish him all the best for his career at Bootham Crescent.
Your Supporters’ Club
As with most supporters’ groups we are looking for young City fans to volunteer help provide exciting events for its members. Please get involved in this new organisation, and any suggestions will be much appreciated (PM me or kingmouse).
Up Coming Event’s
The JMM has already been planning activities for it’s members even at this early stage. Proposed event so far include:
YYimbledon Tennis Tournament – the chance to play competitively against other young fans. For information contact kingmouse who is organising this event.
Snooker Tournament – young fans will have the chance to play snooker against other JMM. For information contact PMG who is organising this event.
Table Foosball Tournament – this is a long way off but initial plans are afoot to liase with the York MM for this event.
How To Get Involved
Young fans between the age of 6-21 can apply for a membership form online. Our website has all relevent information for both existing and future members.
Thank you for reading, together we can achieve anything.
Keep The Faith,
The Junior Minstermen. |

Can I just say that if you're really aiming it at people up to the age of 21, Junior Minstermen is a really sheeite name. It makes you all sound about 8 and even puts me off quite frankly. Young Minstermen, like one of the crazy kids on City Chat, would be far superior. |

Shut up. Sarcasm is a consequence of fixation in the oral stage of personality development.
It's a genuine constructive criticism. |

It's nice to see some of the senior members of YY's are doing their best to make sure that a supporters group set up for their benefit or you and that of York City will be stamped out before it has blossomed.
Once again can I thank you Helen for pointing out that our hard work has all been for nothing because you don't like the name, real mature of you.

No your comment was a direct insult.

Oh grow up, take it and stop being so sensitive. I'm not criticising your hard work or whatever, and what you're trying to achieve, I'm just pointing something out. Doing you a favour I think of it as. If I was attempting a similar project, I would welcome such comments. If you don't agree with it, say you don't agree and choose to ignore it. Crying about it won't achieve anything. |

Just a reminder that a membership form is available online:
http://yorkcityfc.com/temp/jmm.doc
A further reminder, any ideas for the JMM can be sent to either myself or kingmouse.
As regards to the debate in this thread:
Of course all constructive comments are welcome.
What do other possible members think about the name? |

We could call it The Magical Club Of York City Fun. Kids love stuff like that.

I asked a friend where his band were playing in Boro, and he told me Bobby's Magical Fun House, and I believed him. I might open a bar called that one day. |

I don't know why, but that's one of the funniest things I've ever read. Had me giggling like a [removed] in the middle of the IT room.
