Dear Sir
I have been banned form using my normal user name of saturday_yankee would you please explain the reasons for this.
The club have not made a statement for the new weekly draw due to the fact that it is being launched NEXT week - I am currently preparing the launch and will be with Sue Chappell at the club (who will be back at the club tomorrow after a well deserved holiday).
If you wish to contact the club shop (commercial office) they will confirm that a new weekly draw will be starting from next week and that we will be requiring agents and canvassers.
No further details will be released prior to the press launch next week.
I would appreciate it greatly if you would lift the ban on the saturday yankee user name with immediate effect.
Thank You
Colin Wild

Colin, I believe the site administartor was correct to remove your postings - they looked suspiciously spam-like.
-they were effectively anonymous
-nothing to identify you with the club
-no real email address or website to establish your credentials
If you're genuine, I hope you will do a good job for the club, but I have to say this is a somewhat unprofessional start. There was nothing to stop you contacting Laurence direct and asking him to put your post in as an announcement. I suggest you contact him direct by pm or email; his user ID is acombred.

Yes I am genuine first of all !
Secondly I was not aware who the administrator of the site is. I now have the information !
It is not a cloak and dagger exercise - it is a genuine need to get this weekly draw off the ground to make YCFC the funds needed to progress on and off the pitch.
The fact is that relegation from the league to Conference is estimated to cost approx £225,000 (this figure is loss of tv , pools etc)
It may be a "bad start" but the other clubs who I deal with had never had a problem with my postings as saturday_yankee - I live and learn !
Anyway - hopefully that ban will be lifted and saturday_yankee will continue to post ! In the meantime lets get together and make this draw a success and help to take YCFC forward.

Colin, in our defence, not many other clubs have been screwed-over as thoroughly as YCFC have been in the past couple of years.
As such, the average City fan is a suspicious beast. So you shouldn't be surprised when people express doubts like those in the two threads you have started.

still think its abit unfair for him to be shot down and BANNED before the admin finds out the facts. seems like this guy has come on here to help out york city's finances and has been forced, without explanation it would seem,to pi55 off!
not very welcoming! if an established member of the forum had posted the info i dont think it'd would have been disregarded as "spam!"
quite shameful really!

No catkin, there's been too many jokers on here in the past with scams, and with other commercial "initiatives" which seek the involvement of City fans but fail to benefit the club in any way whatsoever. Don't have a problem with what the admin guys have done here

the man was shot down before been given a chance. it was like guilty until proven innocent! and why ban him. a simple pm to clear up the situation would have been surfice. i neither have a problem with the admin, but the treatment of this man, in my opinion, was wrong!

Admin was right: there is a lot of circumstantial evidence against the guy. No board member has posted on here or contacted admin to back him up.
This board is owned [read: paid for] by the administrator. He has an absolute right to make the rules, as long as he does not break any laws.

Yes, right to be suspicious.
Surely such an initiative would have been announced by the Trust first?
This guy could be anyone, genuine or a wind up merchant.

I have banned that username, not because of one post, but because he posted it no less than THREE times in THREE seperate topics. Now that is spam by any definition. The additional topics have been removed. This topic has also been moved to the appropriate section.
There were several things that were very odd about this, including the minimum age varying from 16 to 18 on each of his posts.
We are currently investigating whether this is genuine or not. If it is, then it is such a shame that the club is dealing with spammers like this.
I have finally received an email from him (why didn't he go to the credits page in the first place? the contact address for DeeUU and myself is on there!), but I am waiting to see Mike Brown's response before I respond. |

Right to be banned. He has not credentails from the club at all and has a hotmail email address. His posting was inconsistant so we were right to be suspicious.
