This evening our great nation will take on Henry, Pires and co in Euro 2004.

A good performance in this match will stand us in good stead for the other group matches against Croatia and the Swiss.

So tonight, get behind Beckham, Rooney, Owen etc and cheer us on.

GO ENGLAND!!!!!!!

Probable Line Ups:

England:

James; G Neville, King, Campbell, A Cole; Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes; Owen, Rooney.

France:

Barthez; Sagnol, Thuram, Silvestre, Lizarazu; Pires, Vieira, Makelele, Zidane; Henry, Trezeguet.

Barthez in goal for the French, lets hope he can drop a clanger or two and hope James doesn't.

Old boys in the French defence should hopefully be ran ragged by Rooney and Owen. If Desailly comes on at any stage, he shouldn't pose too much of a problem these days.

French attackers though are the most dangerous i.e Henry, Trezeguet, Zidane and Pires.

Lets hope Beckham and co can deal with them.

It's a real shame Desailly isn't playing as he's also getting older and slower.

However, Thuram has had a distinctly average season and is getting on a bit, Silvestre has never been convincing for Manchester United, and Lizarazu is also not at his prime.

But going forward they are a better side than us.

Anything other than a defeat would still be a good start for England.

Also the top 2 teams in each group go through, so a loss wouldn't mean it was over straight away, as we would still have Switzerland and Croatia to play.

However I want to see the French stuffed tonight, and also for Ledley King to play the game of his life.

I also want Barthez to cause a few laughs by doing stupid things.
